BMW shows off refreshed 3-series

I have never been a huge BMW fan. I can certainly appreciate the M versions that the car company puts out with nice performance. Overall, I find the brand a bit boring personally. Still, it's always cool to see the refreshed vehicles that will be coming to market soon. At this point, we have a few pics of the normal 3-Series cars that are lighter, yet lower and wider. The updated rides include the 328i, 335i, and 320d. Read The Full Story

BMW working on laser lights for future vehicles

BMW was among the first carmakers out there to start using LED lights for headlights and other lights. The LEDs are great because they use less power and they are able to last much longer than your typical automotive lighting. BMW is working on what it calls the next logical step in automotive lighting with laser lighting. The lights are expected to come to market within a few years. Read The Full Story

BMW uses frickin’ lasers for good, Dr. Evil weeps

Let's face it; most drivers are oblivious to what is going on around them. They pull out in front of other cars, don't pay attention to pedestrians or motorcycles, and do other generally dumb and avoidable things simply from inattention. Sadly, when it comes to an inattentive driver and a pedestrian or motorcyclist, the pedestrian or motorcyclist often has little chance in an accident. BMW has announced a new system that is automatically activated in the high-end BMW 5 series cars as soon as the sensors in the vehicle detects a left turn. Read The Full Story

It's obviously the day for eco-luxury cars; in Rolls Royce's tire tracks comes BMW i, a new sub-brand by the German car manufacturer (which, of course, actually owns the RR marque) with a pair of concept cars and the promise of "sustainable, premium mobility." The BMW i3 and i8 may sound like Intel processors, but they're actually expected to launch in 2013. Read The Full Story

BMW 1-Series gets Nokia C7 remote-control [Video]

, Jan 20th 2011 Discuss [7]

Nokia's C7 proved a respectable business handset when we reviewed it, but then we didn't try remotely-controlling a BMW with the Symbian smartphone. That's just what two engineers from Nokia Asia have apparently managed, taking just twenty days to create the necessary software and remote control hardware to operate a 1-Series' steering, brakes and accelerator, as well as all the regular gadgets inside. Leica X1 BMW Special Edition Camera Unveiled, Costs $3,500

, Jan 18th 2011 Discuss [0]

When you're trying to sell a special edition of something, especially something that's already been available to purchase, you generally want to add features to it. Or, perhaps just throw in more accessories or "never before seen" things. But, for Leica, who has released plenty of special edition cameras in the past, the BMW special edition version of the X1 doesn't really do any of the aforementioned things. At least, not enough to warrant an almost $1,000 price increase. Read The Full Story
