Mini’s new concept AR glasses give you X-Ray vision

BMW's Mini division just revealed its latest concept gadget, a pair of augmented reality glasses, at the Auto Shanghai show. Mini Augmented Vision is a new pairing of AR technology and driving. BMW recalls a bunch of motorcycles with rear wheel troubles

BMW recalls a bunch of motorcycles with rear wheel troubles

BMW has recalled almost 49,000 motorcycles due to a potential problem with the rear wheel, which could loosen and cause the rider to wreck. This is because the rear wheel's flanges could end up cracking if someone tightens the bolts too much, and those cracks could then cause the bolts to come loose and the wheel itself to come loose. Unfortunately, the problem came to light when an owner crashed on his bike when the wheel loosened, suffering relatively minor injuries.

BMW settles with the FTC over restrictive Mini warranties

BMW settles with the FTC over restrictive Mini warranties

Consumer warranties can be tricky. They are ideally designed to protect the consumer, but are mostly written by companies to protect their own interests and profit margin. BMW's auto warranties were scrutinized by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) which lead to an official complaint from the FTC. BMW of North America is settling with the FTC over their administrative complaint that BMW's Mini car division restricted its customers freedom to choose after-market auto parts and individual repair garages over Mini's official dealerships. In order to avoid a possibly long and drawn out court battle against the regulatory agency, BMW decided to settle.

BMW i8 coupe rolls in to GTC 2015 with NVIDIA inside

NVIDIA made the case this week for an already-strong collection of vehicles sporting their current, previous, and next-generation processor systems. While this particular vehicle doesn't roll with the NVIDIA DRIVE CX system we're seeing on the vehicles of tomorrow, it does work with an NVIDIA GPU, and the infotainment system that directly precedes DRIVE CX. The system in this vehicle was first announced alongside Tesla's Model S team-up with NVIDIA all the way back in 2011. Super Bowl 2015: this year’s best tech-related commercials

The time has arrived. The 2015 Super Bowl. It's that one day of the year where we throw parties with tons of food, focus on sitting on the couch in front of a large TV, and spend the afternoon watching a collection of the world's the most expensive commercials, all with the occasional break to show a sports game. But we already know which commercial will be the winner, don't we? Just like last year, it will be the emotional one with a puppy that doesn't really have a connection to the cheap beer it's trying to sell.

BMW patches e-goof that left 2.2m cars at risk

BMW has remotely patched a security flaw which, if exploited, could have handed over the digital keys to as many as 2.2m BMW, Rolls-Royce, and MINI cars to thieves. The hack, identified by a German motorist association, involved models fitted with BMW's ConnectedDrive infotainment system, which uses a mobile data connection to offer drivers locking control when they're away from the vehicle, in addition to downloading content to the dashboard when they're behind the wheel. BMW says that it's now using the same sort of HTTPS encryption that banks rely upon.
