BlackBerry 10 slides leak video chat and screen sharing via BBM

With the final release of BlackBerry 10 coming up in a special event scheduled for the 30th of January, it's no wonder we're seeing a blast of interest in everything RIM - today's leak being a set of slides showing BBM boosts and a new task manager. This set of slides shows that BlackBerry Messenger is set to be updated in a big way with both full-on video chat and screen sharing for all. BlackBerry X10 QWERTY touch smartphone leaked in single white-case photo

There appears to be a whole new double-down in the BlackBerry 10 universe this week with a leaked image of what's being called the BlackBerry X10. This device sits in a photo near the BlackBerry Z10 all-touch smartphone as well as the BlackBerry Dev Alpha C smartphone given to 1,500 developers earlier this year. This photo is fairly clear, but of course completely unofficial and unconfirmed by RIM. Read The Full Story

Nielsen 2012 recap puts Android and iOS on top

This week the folks at analyst group Nielsen have released their "Tops of 2012: Digital" list and have found Android and Apple's iOS battling it out for top US Smartphone operating system to the supreme surprise of no-one - it's the fact that BlackBerry still commands 7% of the market that's most striking. The main chart from this Neilsen report shows Android in the clear lead with 52% of the market in Nielsen's third quarter of 2012 with Apple's iOS coming in with 35% of the market on the iPhone. BlackBerry 10 jumps the shark with tiered service fees

Those of you out there with a BlackBerry device know better than anyone that the platform carries with it not just support from the carrier, but from teams of restless developers and software heroes working with RIM, as well. This week at their third-quarter 2012 earnings call the heads at RIM released information on how BlackBerry 10 will deal with the Service Fees that are associated with RIM offering support to users all along their contracts with carriers – and the news is not being received well.

Porsche Design P’9981 gets black re-spray (keeps crazy price)

Porsche Design and RIM have resurrected the P'9981, the expensive love-it-or-hate-it smartphone that redresses BlackBerry 7 in an angular metal suit, this time in black. The new P'9981 Black has the same touchscreen and QWERTY combo as the silver version we reviewed back in February, as well as a 5-megapixel camera embedded in a leather-covered back, but Porsche Design claims the matte finish case is actually more in keeping with its racing car heritage than the original. BlackBerry Z10 smartphone leaks with two color combos

This afternoon it would appear that a brand new BlackBerry 10 handset has been leaked with a couple of images, one of them in an all-black setup, the other with a black bezel and a white body. This handset will be one of several (if it turns out to be legitimate) that's revealed at the BlackBerry 10 event on the 30th of January, 2013. BlackBerry 10 gets vote of confidence in UK (including 4G model)

BlackBerry 10 may not have convinced the analysts or the market yet, but RIM's new platform has at least secured itself some space on UK shelves, with the key operators confirming they'll be offering the first devices come 2013. EE - plus combined brands Orange and T-Mobile UK - have thrown their lot in with BlackBerry 10 (including confirming that there will be 4G support), as well as O2 and Vodafone, while Three has also confirmed it will have RIM's next-big-hope in its stores. Twitter for BlackBerry updates with Connect and Discover tabs

Even though BlackBerry 10 is just over a month away, Twitter is updating its BlackBerry app for users with soon-to-be older devices. The update includes the new "Connect" and "Discover" tabs, as well as some improvements on the navigation side of things. It's not every day you get to see a smartphone that's not meant to be on the market for weeks ahead of the showing, but that's exactly what we're seeing today courtesy of an intrepid leakster holding an L-Series BlackBerry 10 device clear as day. The video you're about to see has the device compared in relative detail to the Dev Alpha B smartphone that we've seen several times before and is compared to the iPhone 5 in a momentary glance - they may look similar with just a peek. What's perhaps the most interesting element in this video is not the contents, but the fact that RIM has allowed it to stay online for so long - it's been up for nearly a day at this point: perhaps pointing toward RIM's acceptance of the press, no matter the source.
