It's about time we made our way through the rumor mill, and it looks like we've got a good one for anyone who's a fan of BlackBerry, and especially the Storm. Well actually, if you wanted a Storm, hated the first, and were hoping that the second would be better, this might be in your neck of the woods, too. And yes, we've heard rumors like this before, and we've even seen the Storm 2 on video already, but nothing official has been released regarding its debut date. Verizon slash smartphone prices to $99

Bargain-hunters in search of their next smartphone may have another reason to stop by their local Verizon store, with the Boy Genius Report suggesting that the US carrier is planning to cut prices of their entire existing smartphone range to $99.  Billed as a reaction to the $99 iPhone 3G on AT&T, it's also speculated that it's preparation for at least two incoming devices.

BlackBerry Storm 2 gets hands-on

RIM's BlackBerry Storm 2 may not have been confirmed by the company themselves yet, but that hasn't stopped the handset showing up in the wild more than once.  Now Engadget have had an opportunity to spend more than a few flighty seconds with the touchscreen follow-up; turns out, RIM have listened to criticism and dumped SurePress, replacing it with a more standard capacitive touchscreen.

Storm 2 getting new text-entry system, claims RIM employee

According to a RIM employee, the BlackBerry Storm 2 will offer a new text input method, addressing one of the key concerns many users and reviewers had with the smartphone.  Alain Segond von Banchet, who works at RIM, told Dutch site Tweakers.net that the company had not yet decided on a name for the next-gen touchscreen phone, but that it was due to reach market at the end of this year or the beginning of 2010.  Continue Reading...
