Bell leak tips no BlackBerry 6 upgrades until 2011

RIM may have promised BlackBerry 6 updates for the Bold 9700, 9650 and Pearl 3G, but that doesn't mean you're going to get them any time soon.  A leaked schedule document acquired by MobileSyrup purportedly from Canadian carrier Bell Mobility has revealed they don't plan to push out the new OS version until sometime in 2011.  According to the document, Bell's 9700, Pearl 9100 and recently released Curve 3G 9300 will be left with OS 5.x for at least several months.

RIM BlackPad to Feature New OS Built by QNX Software Systems

For the Canadian-based Research In Motion, the release of the BlackBerry Torch on AT&T was meant to signify a departure from the norm that RIM has been so connected to over the years. And while the Torch, and its Operating System (BlackBerry 6), may indeed be different for the company as a whole, it wasn't as revolutionary as many thought it would be. Perhaps that change is coming in their first tablet endeavor, the BlackPad, with the latest rumors suggesting that RIM isn't going to use BlackBerry 6, but instead go a different route.

AT&T and RIM Event Scheduled for August 3rd, New Device and OS6 Showcased?

Sure enough, here's the invite. Research In Motion and AT&T are apparently teaming up to bring some big news to the industry, and they've chosen their date, along with the early morning hours of that date, to break the news. Unfortunately, unlike past invites to other events, this one doesn't give us any clues as to what may be getting announced come August 3rd. But, we've got our guesses.
