BlackBerry 6.0 Gets Google Search Update

Amidst the negativity, including a scathing open letter to RIM's Co-CEOs this morning from another senior exec, the company's BlackBerry platform saw some updates today that will improve the user experience. The BlackBerry Desktop for Mac app got a 2.1 version that now supports PlayBook syncing and now the Google Search for BlackBerry 6 also gets updated. Read The Full Story

RIM: No BlackBerry 7 OS for existing phones

BlackBerry users advised to disable JavaScript after hack hole spotted

RIM has warned BlackBerry users and IT departments to disable JavaScript on their handsets, after the identification of a security flaw that could give hackers unauthorized access to the smartphones after visiting a compromised site. The loophole, which affects devices running BlackBerry 6, could in theory allow access to devices' memory cards and any data stored on them. Read The Full Story

Droid Pro Review

RIM's BlackBerry Pearl 3G, which was announced some time ago, has been a no-show (here in the States) for quite some time. But it looks like AT&T is about to make that change, as the second largest wireless carrier in the United State has just announced that the device, along with the BlackBerry Curve 3G, are heading to their retail shelves this holiday season. Bell leak tips no BlackBerry 6 upgrades until 2011

RIM may have promised BlackBerry 6 updates for the Bold 9700, 9650 and Pearl 3G, but that doesn't mean you're going to get them any time soon.  A leaked schedule document acquired by MobileSyrup purportedly from Canadian carrier Bell Mobility has revealed they don't plan to push out the new OS version until sometime in 2011.  According to the document, Bell's 9700, Pearl 9100 and recently released Curve 3G 9300 will be left with OS 5.x for at least several months. BlackBerry Bold 9780 leaks, gets BlackBerry 6 OS video demo

Images and video of RIM's upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9780 - the replacement of the current Bold 9700 - have leaked to BerryReview, complete with a demonstration of the BlackBerry 6 OS running on the non-touchscreen handset.  Expected to make its official debut in October, the Bold 9780 updates the 9700's RAM to 512MB and the camera to 5-megapixels.
