RIM has shared its BlackBerry 10 roadmap, confirming that the Gold SDK - the final version of the tools developers need to create apps for the platform - expected in November. According to the roadmap, the latest R6 SDK beta is up for download today, including a software update for the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha smartphone to add the BlackBerry App World storefront app and thus allow developers to share their apps with other Dev Alpha owners.

Baird Equity Research recently published a report that suggests BlackBerry 10 developers are either leaving the OS for greener pastures (before the OS is even available to consumers, no less) or aren't all that confident that it can achieve long-term success. RIM CEO: “We own QWERTY market” so we’re chasing full-touch BB10 first
RIM plans to trim its product line-up and lean heavily on BlackBerry 7 devices as it puts the finishing touches to BlackBerry 10, focusing on BBM connected services to provoke consumer interest. RIM‘s Q1 2013 results are out, and it’s dire reading for the BlackBerry maker: a net loss of $518m for the three month period, and the confession that BlackBerry 10 will miss its launch window. Instead, the first device running the new platform is now only expected in the first calendar quarter of 2013, rather than Q4 2012 as previously promised, though that will shrink the period between the initial all-touch handset arriving and a QWERTY device due to drop shortly after. Between then and now, though, there’ll be even more job losses.
