Best Buy just announced that their third quarter profits are down 77 percent over all. They also announced plants to cut capital expenditures and yes staff members. With the economy in a bind like this it is just too much for electronic big box stores like this to hold on. Lets cross our fingers and hope Best Buy does not follow in the steps of Circuit City.

Best Buy are readying a Sony PS3 bundle that sees the 80GB version of the console joined by a copy of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, as well as Casino Royale on Blu-Ray.  Set to launch on November 28th, the bundle will be priced at $400.

Best Buy have begun selling MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops with $100 discounts from the list-price.  The deal is not limited to the older plastic MacBook, but the new late-2008 unibody aluminum version and its more powerful Pro sibling.  According to some sources, Apple stores will be matching the Best Buy pricing “for the next few days”.

It’s not often we get to call a $660 cellphone a bargain, but if you’d been saving up for an unsubsidized AT&T BlackBerry Bold thinking that Best Buy’s price would be $679.99, you’ll be pleased by the news that it’s actually come in at “just” $659.99.  The smartphone is currently listed as ‘backordered’, with delivery expected in 1-2 weeks.
