OnStar breaks free of GM chokehold, shows off future of LTE vehicle services

OnStar has been a service on GM vehicles for years now that can do all sorts of stuff. It can help the police find your vehicle if it is stolen, it can get you directions to a place you want to go, and it can do lots more. When you buy something, hopefully your first instinct isn't to just return it. Sure, things happen, and that's more than likely why Best Buy, one of the nation's largest electronics retailers, has decided to go ahead and start looking at making it possible for customers to sell their wares back to the store. First it was killing restocking fees. Now they've got something new. Palm Pre 2 for Verizon Appears in Best Buy’s System, Still Not Available

It's been over two months since the Palm Pre 2 was announced, with the company saying that the Verizon version of the device would be released "in the coming months." The handset's available in Europe, and you can even buy yourself a GSM-based unlocked version of the second generation Pre, but there hasn't been any word on the handset landing on Verizon since its announcement. Of course, there's been rumors, but nothing official. And while seeing the Pre 2 appear in Best Buy's system is no indicator as to when, exactly, the handset will be showing up for sale, at least we know that the retailer is getting ready to sell it. Rovi Declares Intent to Buy Sonic Solutions

In an announcement late Wednesday, Rovi Corp. has officially made it known that they have every intent in buying Sonic Solutions. In their proposal, the company confirmed that the deal would be worth $720 million in a cash-and-stocks deal. The result of a purchase like this, both companies believe, would be the collected power to change the way digital distribution is handled within the video entertainment market. Best Buy offers iPad buyers a free mobile hotspot (with an agreement, naturally)

Best Buy is offering iPad buyers a "free" mobile hotspot to get online with the WiFi-only version of the Apple tablet. The deal, spotted by 9to5Mac, includes Verizon's FiveSpot, AT&T's MiFi 2372 or Sprint's 4G OverDrive, though each does require a new, two-year agreement. Read The Full Story

Google's Nexus S goes on sale today at Best Buy stores across the US, with the retailer opening at 8am to cater for anticipated demand for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone. Having gone up for pre-order in the UK yesterday, sales plans for the Google Nexus S in the US have been confirmed by exclusive retailer Best Buy. The unlocked Nexus S will be priced at $529, or for $199 with a two-year T-Mobile agreement (and qualifying voice and data plan), when it goes on sale come December 16. Best of all, it seems Google has learned from its online-only sales debacle with the Nexus One, and will make sure every Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile store will have a Nexus S demo handset around for would-be buyers to play with. Justbeats headphones launch as Best Buy exclusive

I'm not sure where kids learn some of the stuff they know. My daughter came home talking about Justin Bieber not long ago and asked if she could have a shirt with him on it, she is in kindergarten. It was one of the low points of parenthood for me. She then asked Santa for one of the Bieber dolls that sing and things got worse.
