BeBook is a company better known for its ereaders, but the lure of the tablet has proved too great. The BeBook Live is a low-cost Android slate, still proclaiming its ereader heritage but also hoping to earn itself a place as your browsing, multimedia and gaming gadget of choice. BeBook Live Android tablet lands in UK on June 21

If you are in the market for a cheap entry-level tablet that runs the Android OS and has decent hardware, you might be interested in the BeBook Live tablet. I mentioned last week that the little tablet had been tipped to launch this summer at an affordable price of around $280. This summer is rather vague and could mean anywhere from a few weeks to a few months from now. BeBook has offered the official launch date for the tablet via an email to interested folks in the UK.

BeBook Live tablet to land this summer

The market is slowly starting to flood with lots and lots of Android-powered tablets. One of the latest to break cover is the BeBook Live tablet. BeBook is more know for eReaders than tablets. The BeBook Live is going to be a reasonably priced tablet with a MSRP of about $280. The tablet will run Android 2.2 rather than 3.0 like the high-end tablets use. Under the hood, the little tablet will have some decent, but a bit boring, hardware.

BeBook Mini & BeBook 2 with 3G get video demo

The BeBook Mini 5-inch ebook reader has been caught on video in an interview with the company's CEO, together with the BeBook 2.  As well as the smaller E Ink device, the 3G connectivity in the upcoming BeBook 2 was discussed; the company is apparently in negotiations with European carriers, and is expecting to offer the device in France and Germany with inclusive 3G connectivity (as with the Amazon Kindle in the US).
