Averatec have launched their latest netbook range, the N1200 Series, and according to the press blurb they’ve created the thinnest, lightest 10.1-incher on the market today. At less than an inch thick and weighing under 2.2lbs it’s certainly on the skinny size, though inside you’re dealing with the same 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor and GMA 3150 graphics as any other netbook.

There’s also 1GB and a choice of models with 160GB or 250GB hard-drives. Connectivity includes WiFi 802.11n and 10/100 ethernet across the board, with the top-spec models getting Bluetooth too; there’s also an offset 1.3-megapixel webcam. Glancing at the VGA port tells us that the N1200 Series is certainly thicker than something like Sony’s VAIO X ultraportable, but then again Sony wouldn’t like you calling that a netbook so we suppose Averatec get away with their claims.

All but the base model run Windows 7 (the entry-level machine gets Windows XP) and the standard 3-cell battery is good for just 3hrs of use; you’ll have to splash out on the top model with its 6-cell pack if you want to get Averatec’s quoted 6hrs of runtime. Prices range from $329.99 to $379.99 and you can find full details in the gallery below.

Press Release:

Averatec Introduces Thinnest, Lightest 10-inch Netbook on the Market

Extended Battery Models Offer Up to Six Hours Battery Life

SANTA ANA, Calif. –(Business Wire)– Mar 02, 2010 TriGem USA today announced the Averatec N1200 Series netbook, the thinnest, lightest 10.1-inch netbook on the market today. The netbook weighs in at 2.2 pounds, measures less than one-inch thick, and offers up to six hours of battery life with the extended battery model. The N1200 will be offered in different models to match a customer’s computing needs and budget requirements, with prices ranging from $329 to $379.

Three models will be offered and feature various configurations based on either the Windows XP Home or Windows 7 Starter operating systems. Extended battery models will also be available to increase battery performance from three to six hours.

To achieve this design, the engineering team at TriGem incorporated materials and components typically found on more expensive ultra-slim notebooks. Cutting-edge technologies such as ultra-slim LED LCDs along with super-slim 7mm hard drives are some of the key components which enable the N1200 Series netbook to be less than one-inch thick. Magnesium-alloy casing and the use of lithium polymer battery cells help to keep the weight down to 2.2 pounds, making it the lightest in its class.

“To build a leading-class netbook, you need to think about how it should be built,” said Bob Davidson, TriGem USA senior vice president. “The lines between low-cost netbooks and ultra-portable notebooks are becoming blurred and consumers are no longer satisfied with mere compact clamshell-shaped netbooks. They want all the premium styling and features found in ultra-portable notebooks but at much more affordable prices.”

The new Averatec N1200 Series netbook features a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor and operating system options for either Microsoft Windows XP Home or Windows 7 Starter. For videoconferencing and video Web chat, the netbook includes a 1.3-megapixel webcam. Storage options include 160GB and 250GB hard drives and the N1200 comes standard with 1GB DDR2 memory which is expandable to 2GB of total system memory.

The Averatec N1200 Series netbook is available for purchase this month at retail partners such as BestBuy.com, TigerDirect.com and OfficeMax.com.

TriGem’s products are backed by a one-year limited warranty and one-year of U.S.-based technical support available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

Press Release:

New Averatec 22-inch AIO is Space-Saver

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 17, 2009 — TriGem USA today announced the Averatec 22-inch D1005 all-in-one (AIO) computer, rounding out the company’s lineup of powerful all-in-one PCs. With an MSRP of $799, the D1005 is an ideal system for business or home users and college-bound students who need a PC with full functionality while enjoying the benefits of a space-saving design.

“Our latest offering was designed with the college student and business professional in mind,” said Henry Hewitt, vice president of sales at TriGem USA. “Its sleek design and small footprint makes it an attractive system to sit on top of your desk without taking up a lot of space. As people downsize their office space and college students head back to the dorm, saving valuable desktop real estate is top of mind.
“In addition, its ability to serve as a multimedia center makes it a great choice for those looking for a PC that can do ‘double duty.’ Its powerful dual-core processor, ability to play video at true 1080p resolution, and built-in megapixel webcam combines all the applications consumers are demanding these days.”
The new 22-inch Averatec D1005 AIO features a 2.5GHz Intel Pentium dual-core E5200 processor, 320GB hard drive, 3GB of memory, Microsoft Vista Home Premium and a full-size USB keyboard and mouse.
TriGem USA has become known for its space-saving AIO designs with recent launches of the 25.5-inch D1205 and the 18-inch D1133 AIO computers. Hewitt noted that Averatec gauges consumer demand very closely to ensure that design features are incorporated into future AIOs.
“We are evolving into a multi-tasking society, demanding more of technology to address everyday necessities. For this reason, TriGem has incorporated powerful features into its AIO designs which enables consumers to place their systems in any location where daily PC use is desired by a family, student or small business.”
The Averatec D1005 is a versatile computer that can be used for everyday Web browsing, social networking, home and business software applications and games, plus users can enjoy viewing YouTube videos and other on-line or streaming video entertainment. The system features built-in WLAN wireless 802.11n networking as well as wired 10/100/1000 Mb/s network connectivity.
The D1005 is available for purchase at Best Buy.com, TigerDirect.com, Newegg.com and Onsale.com
TriGem’s products are backed by a one-year limited warranty and one-year of technical support available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

Press Release:

New Averatec 25.5-inch PC/TV Combo Delivers Best of Both Worlds

SANTA ANA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–TriGem USA today announced the Averatec 25.5-inch D1200 all-in-one (AIO) computer, the largest AIO offering for under $1,000 available today. The new AIO plays video at true 1080p resolution and features a built-in hybrid digital/analog TV tuner, making it an ideal TV replacement. The D1200, which is offered at an MSRP of $999, is now available.

“With its sleek, contemporary AIO design and crisp LCD, the D1200 is an ideal system for power users and those looking for a computer that can function both as a PC and TV,” said Henry Hewitt, vice president of sales at TriGem USA. “The system’s affordable price point makes this innovative technology and design accessible to a broader segment of customers. The D1200 is an ideal solution for those who are ‘space challenged’ and need a PC/TV combo that fits easily in apartments, dormitories, bedrooms, kitchens and smaller homes and offices.

“With the cost of LCD televisions of comparable size ranging from $600 to $700, Averatec customers are getting a full-functioning TV with complete PC capabilities for only about $200 more. You can’t beat that.”

The multimedia capabilities of the Averatec D1200 deliver a versatile multimedia device for home or office. The hybrid TV tuner enables the AIO to view analog or digital television programming.

The new 25.5-inch Averatec D1200 AIO features a 2.5GHz Intel Pentium dual-core E5200 processor, 320GB hard drive, 4GB of memory, the 64-bit version of Microsoft Vista Home Premium and integrated wireless keyboard and mouse.

TriGem USA and its Averatec brand have a widely respected reputation for stylish designs and innovative, value-oriented products, Hewitt noted. The space-saving design of the D1200 enables it to be placed in any location where TV viewing and daily PC use is desired by a family, student or small business.

“Customers can place it on a TV stand in their bedroom enabling them to work from any location with ease using the integrated wireless keyboard and mouse, while still having the convenience of watching television,” Hewitt said.

The new all-in-one PC is optimized for handling everyday computing tasks such as Web browsing, e-mail, word processing, photo editing, home and business accounting, video editing, games and social networking. It includes an 8x super-multi DVD optical drive, built-in 2.0-megapixel webcam, WLAN wireless 802.11N compliant networking and wired gigabit 10/100/1000 Mb/s network connectivity.

Averatec have already made one foray into the netbook market, with 2008′s Averatec Buddy. Rather than an in-house design, however, the Buddy was a rebadged MSI Wind, priced initially at $449. Their new machine will be fully of their own creation, meanwhile, and Cho believes that – plus the OS – will put Averatec ahead of the game.

Unlike many rivals, who are trying to satisfy every niche, Averatec is looking to build a portfolio with just three main segments: 10-inch netbooks, 12-inch laptops and all-in-one PCs. Most recently, the company unveiled the N2700, a 12.1-inch laptop, while last month they took the wraps off of two all-in-ones, a nettop-style machine and a desktop CPU model.

Press Release:

New Averatec 12-inch Notebook Features Intel Dual-Core Processor, 4GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive

Solid Performance, Sizable Storage, Value Priced & Feature-Packed

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 27, 2009 — TriGem USA today announced the expansion of its mobile computing line with a new 12-inch Averatec N2700 notebook, featuring a 2GHz Intel dual-core processor, 250GB hard drive, 4GB of memory, Microsoft Vista Home Premium and an 8X super-multi DVD optical drive. The notebook, which is currently shipping, is offered at an MSRP of $699.

“The N2700 notebook is an ideal solution for consumers looking for the sweet spot in terms of price, portability and performance,” said Henry Hewitt, vice president of sales at TriGem USA. “It’s larger and more powerful than a typical netbook computer and offers great portability over notebooks sporting 13-inch screens and larger.”

The Averatec N2700 features a super-slim design with a top-performing Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 2GHz processor. It has been designed to maximize performance by minimizing pre-installed software bundles of demo programs and trial software, often called “bloatware.”

The new Averatec notebook is ideal for professionals, college students and other mobile users who travel or need a very capable computer that is right-sized for either the briefcase or backpack. The notebook comes with 4GB RAM and the 64-bit edition of Windows Vista Home Premium, a higher-performing version of the Microsoft operating system. It features built-in 802.11b/g wireless connectivity along with 10/100/1000 Mb/s wired networking. In addition to the three high-speed USB 2.0 ports, the N2700 includes an IEEE 1384 port for connecting to camcorders, external hard drives and other high-speed firewire devices.

“We listened to our customers when we designed this new 12-inch notebook,” Hewitt said. “They wanted solid performance at a great value without excess in the way of ‘try-and-buy’ software add-ons. So we have delivered a ‘back-to-the-basics’ notebook with a very robust Intel dual-core processor, plenty of memory and a sizable hard drive for storing documents, photos, video and music.”

Averatec’s products are backed by a one-year limited warranty and one-year of technical support available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time.

Other specs include a 160GB hard-drive, WiFi b/g and a 4-in-1 memory card reader. As usual there are three USB 2.0 ports, VGA output, audio in/out and a webcam; Averatec rate the 6-cell Li-Ion battery as good for up to five hours use.

AVING ran some benchmarks and the Buddy rated a not especially impressive (though neither all that surprising) 85 3DMarks in 3DMarks06. US price is around $479.99, though that might be with the 3-cell, rather than the 6-cell pack.

We reported just awhile ago that the company had made their Buddy netbook available today and now the Averatec 18.4-inch All-in-One Desktop PC has launched in the US and guess what? It’s Atom-based.

The desktop PC was first announced in the Europe last month, but now it’s getting its US debut. It features specs that are netbook-comparable. For instance, it features a 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM and a 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor. Windows XP is also included.

The display is an ample 18.4-inches and sports a 1680 x 945 resolution, but that is probably the only non-netbook quality of the whole device. The price tag is pretty good at $550. We expect this all-in-one is intended to go right alongside Averatec’s similar computer, the larger 22-inch All-in-One PC.

We first reported to you last month the Averatec Buddy netbook when it was announced, but now it seems consumers can actually get their hands on the companionable device, at least according the the Averatec website.

The Buddy is Averatec’s first netbook computer and we don’t see any changes from when the device was first announced to its current specs. The netbook has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM and a 10.2-inch display with 1,024×600 WSVGA resolution.

This Averatec offering weighs in at 2.56 pounds, has 802.11b/g WiFi and a 10/100 Ethernet connection. Three USB 2.0 ports, a memory card reader and a VGA port are also included. However, the battery is a rather disappointing three-cell battery. The Averatec Buddy Netbook will set you back $449 and is available now.

Averatec have taken the wraps off of their latest netbook, the Buddy, with a 10.2-inch screen and Intel Atom 1.6GHz single-core processor. As you might expect, the specifications aren’t anything groundbreaking: 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard-drive and WiFi.

Say it with me: another case of netbook-by-numbers. Averatec are hyping up their keyboard, describing it as “generous” for the netbooks compact size, but I can’t imagine that it’s especially different from that of other 10-inch machine such as MSI’s Wind or the Eee PC 1000-series. Perhaps with all that generous space you could have dropped in 3G, a fingerprint scanner and Bluetooth, eh?

The Averatec Buddy will be available with an MRSP of $449.99, making it cheaper than the MSI Wind. However it’s uncertain whether the Buddy will include a 3, 4 or 6-cell battery pack, and in fact the company does not mention battery life at all.

US-based computing company Averatec have announced two new semi-ruggedized notebooks, promising greater resilience to the knocks and scraps a working laptop often suffers. Fitting into the Voya series, the new additions consist of the 4473, which has a 14.1-inch 4:3 aspect display, and the 6494, which has a 15.4-inch widescreen display. While neither is meant to survive, say, a hod full of bricks landing on them, they’re drop and vibration resistant, while the keyboard and trackpad are spill-resistant.

Averatec’s target customers are primarily students – since they’re known for being drunk and falling over, I suppose – and mobile professionals. The press release specifically mentions those on building sites, but I think you’re probably allowed to take the Voya elsewhere too. The outer case is magnesium alloy, and the whole thing weighs 5.7lbs for the 4473 or 6.4lbs for the 6494.

While the 6494 uses an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 CPU running 2.2GHz, the 4473 makes do with a rather sub-standard Core Duo T2080 at 1.73GHz. The faster unit also has twice as much RAM – 2GB compared to 1GB – and a larger, 250GB hard-drive (the 4473 has 120GB). Both have three USB ports, a DVD burner, a/b/g WiFi and run Vista Home Premium.

Averatec is yet to release pricing details for the two machines.
