HTC One features new BoomSound front-facing speakers

We're here live at today's HTC event where they have officially announced the new HTC One smartphone. Of course, it has all the goodies that any fan would love, including "UltraPixel" camera technology. However, the company also introduced what they're calling BoomSound: two front-facing speakers -- one on the top near the earpiece and one on the bottom near the mic. Read The Full Story

This week we’ve had a look (or a listen, rather) to the V-MODA Crossfade M-100 over-ear headphones, the newest in a line of hardcore solutions from the team that brought you some of the best ear-blasting sound machines we’ve got in our review archives. This newest design is what the company calls “crowdsourced” as they’ve made the creation process one where more people were involved than on any previous project in the company – audiophiles, producers, editors, and DJs alike. The end product is a pair of headphones that sound just as good or better than the Limited Edition LP2s we saw last year (and the original LPs back in 2010) in a slightly more compact setup – a win win!

Bem Wireless Speaker Trio Review

Library of Congress unveils plan to preserve recordings

The Library of Congress has unveiled its National Recording Preservation plan, which involves preserving the US's "recorded sound heritage" for generations to come. The plan is mandated by Congress, and is composed of 32 recommendations encompassing both the public and private sectors. Amazon Cloud Player now available for Ford SYNC

Ever since Ford opened up its AppLink developer program, allowing anyone to submit apps for use in Ford SYNC-enabled vehicles, the company has seen an influx in compatible apps. One of the newest ones added is Amazon's Cloud Player, which was announced during CES last month. The app will now let you control your music library using convenient voice controls while driving. eMusic removes subscription requirement opening the doors to all

eMusic has been around for years and has required users to purchase a subscription even if they wanted to buy music from the online store. That has now changed with the company announcing that starting this week anyone will be able to visit eMusic.com and purchase songs or albums at a retail price without needing a subscription. Forcing people to buy a subscription to buy music never made a lot of sense as a business model. Read The Full Story

Audio Pro Air One wireless speaker breaks cover

A Swedish audio company called Audio Pro has unveiled the new wireless speaker that supports Apple AirPlay. The speaker is called the Allroom Air One and supports DNLA devices. Google Glasses to include bone conduction technology

Google recently submitted FCC filings for their upcoming Google Glasses. The pair includes 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, but they also include bone conduction technology, meaning that you can listen to audio without having pesky earbuds or headphones. Vibrations that travel through bones near your ears allow you to listen to music, while still hearing what goes on around you. Read The Full Story

Sound City Players set single NYC show for film celebration

There's a movie out there right this minute by the name of Sound City, a documentary about the recording studio by the same name, and the creators and collaborators of this movie are set to play a single show in New York City this month to celebrate its release. Sound City closed as a commercial recording studio in May of 2011, this prompting the head of the project, music legend Dave Grohl, to create the film and the media that now surrounds it.
