Audi RS Q3 concept debuts

Audi RS Q3 concept debuts

Audi makes some very nice cars with meticulous build quality. The thing that always strikes me as odd about Audi is that many of them used a strange five-cylinder engine. Audi has unveiled a new concept car called the RS Q3 concept. The car was unveiled at Auto China 2012 in Beijing, and it uses a five-cylinder direct injection turbocharged engine.

Audi e-sound makes EVs sing

Audi e-sound makes EVs sing

The dangers of being crushed by a silent and deadly electric vehicle have been long known, but trust Audi to level its "Vorsprung durch Technik" at the issue and compose a specific "e-sound" for its cars. The handiwork of Audi engineer Rudolf Halbmeir, the new sound - which will be fitted to all Audi EVs - isn't a single monotone but created on the fly, depending on the speed of the motors, the overall vehicle speed, the current load and more.

Audi Visions OLED “living lighting” demonstrated

This week the automotive group Audi is showing off their Visions OLED lighting concept for ultra-impressive arrays of interactive lights across both their R8 and Q7 model vehicles. The video you're about to see might set your face on fire with how awesome it is, so Pimp My Ride lovers beware. Stephan Berlitz, head of lighting technology and electronics at Audi noted that the homogenous visual effects you're about to see in the video would not have been possible with simple LEDs, "hese are individual points of light that need additional optical devices – reflectors, optical conductors or scatter optics." Have a peek at this masterpiece for yourself, if you dare.

Audi to race hybrid R18 prototypes in 2012 Le Mans

Audi will be entering two super hybrid racecars into the 24-hour Le Mans endurance challenge this year. The first is the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, a four-wheel drive diesel hybrid, and the other is the Audi R18 ultra, which uses a super lightweight design to accommodate a heavier hybrid drive train. Both were developed in parallel in only 18 months, a relatively short period of time for a technology that's never been tested before in motorsports and still doesn't exist in production.

You wont be blasting through to the head of the race pack with this monster though, as its top speed is only either 155 mph or 174 mph depending on what options you've selected. Then come the parts we're really interested in - the advancements in automotive.
