‘Atlona Technologies’ Stories

When Atlona’s HDAiR wireless HDMI adapter launched earlier this year it was one of a few working systems promising high-definition without the cord, albeit only at a maximum 720p resolution rather than 1080p.  The company’s new version still lacks Full HD support, but now at least throws in wireless audio, too.

One of Apple’s new iMac’s most nifty features is their ability to work as a standalone display for an external video source, such as another Mac or a console.  Unfortunately that means your external source needs to have a Mini DisplayPort output, something in short supply unless you’re already toting a recent Apple product.  Now Atlona Technologies have stepped in with the DP200, a DVI to Mini DisplayPort converter that’s officially compatible with the 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs.

Arriving top of the “you mean we didn’t already have an adapter for that?” list is Atlona’s DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter.  The unassuming box sucks up your dual-link DVI input – such as from earlier MacBooks or many existing notebooks on the market – and then squirts it out via the new, compact connector increasingly featuring on high-end displays.

Atlona Technologies have unveiled their next high-end AV connectivity gadgets, and if you’ve ever lamented the limitations of lengthy HDMI cords then the AT-HDS100SR and AT-HDS250SR may appeal.  Each can take an HDMI input, stereo audio and RS-232 control signal and shuttle it over ethernet cable for up to 825ft.

Atlona have unveiled their latest A/V convertor, this time intended to take high-definition video sources and convert them into a format suitable for standard displays.  The Atlona AT-HD530 includes HDMI and DVI inputs and can down-convert to analog S-Video or composite video with audio.

Atlona Technologies have announced the HDAiR, a wireless USB to HDMI or VGA adapter which allows cable-free connectivity to a display from up to 30 feet away.  Using UWB, up to 720p or 1440 x 1200 resolution video can be transmitted from a Windows XP or Vista PC; unfortunately that means that wireless 1080p Full HD video still isn’t possible.
