ASUS Eee PC 1201T dumps Atom for AMD Congo

ASUS have pushed out another 12.1-inch ultrathin, and this time they've eschewed Intel in favor of some AMD goodness.  Unlike the 1201HA and 1201N, the ASUS Eee PC 1201T uses AMD's 1.6GHz Congo MV40 processor, along with the RS780MN chipset and ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics; that adds up to 1080p Full HD performance, though it doesn't appear from the spec sheets that ASUS have fitted an HDMI port to the 1201T. ATI Radeon HD 5970 5 TeraFLOP graphics card debuts

You can't doubt AMD's commitment to marketing speech: the company is describing their new ATI Radeon HD 5970 as the "fastest graphics card in the world", and from glancing at the specifications it certainly looks potent.  The Radeon HD 5970 - which we saw leaked in recent weeks - packs DirectX 11 support, dual Cypress graphics processors for up to 5 TeraFLOPS of power, and the potential for twice that if you hook up twin HD 5970 cards using CrossFireX.  A single card can, thanks to Eyefinity, create a 7,680 x 1,600 workspace across three displays. Apple may have told us that the new MacBook, Mac mini and iMac updates finalize their holiday 2009 line-up, but that doesn't mean they're not thinking ahead.  Digging through the configuration files in the 10.6.2 update of OS X 10C531, Spanish site Applesana.es have spotted two references to new MacBook Pro notebooks, and believe that they might bring with them quadcore processors and ATI Radeon 4500-series graphics. Acer Aspire AS5738PG multitouch notebook breaks cover with Windows 7

Acer have announced their first touchscreen notebook, the Acer Aspire AS5738PG-6306, complete with Windows 7 and a 15.6-inch 1,366 x 768 multitouch-capable display.  The AS5738PG supports one- or two-finger gestures on the screen, such as pinch-zoom, and is based on Intel's 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo T6600 processor with 4GB of DDR2 memory and ATI Radeon HD 4570 512MB graphics. HP ProBook 6445b and 6545b notebooks & Elite 7000 desktop break cover

HP have also updated their business notebooks and desktop range today, in the shape of the HP ProBook 6445b and ProBook 6545b laptops and the HP Elite 7000 Business Desktop PC.  The two notebooks each offer a choice of AMD Turion II, Athlon II or Sempron processors, together with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 500GB HDD/128GB SSD, and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphics.  The ProBook 6445b has a 14-inch display running at 1,366 x 768 while the ProBook 6545b has a 15.6-inch display running at either 1,366 x 768 or 1,600 x 900.

HP TouchSmart tx2, 300, 600 and 9100 get Windows 7 multitouch

HP have gone touch-crazy in the run-up to Windows 7′s release, pushing out several new touch-sensitive products including a 42-inch widescreen LCD.  The HP TouchSmart tx2 updates the original convertible tx2, and has a 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen which also accepts stylus input; meanwhile there are two new TouchSmart desktop ranges, in the shape of the consumer-oriented HP TouchSmart 300 and 600 – at 20- and 23-inches respectively – and the business-centric HP TouchSmart 9100, a 23-inch model targeted at the hospitality and retail markets.
