ASUS blames unexpected demand for Eee Pad Transformer shortages

Shortages of ASUS' Eee Pad Transformer are apparently down to the tablet being a victim of its own success, according to the company's Taiwan spokesperson, not component shortages or anything else. Despite reports that ASUS could only build 10,000 Transformers per month because Apple had snapped up all the available display supplies, David Chang told Netbook News that in fact it was simply down to ASUS not expecting as many buyers as they've had. It’s taken Android 3.0 Honeycomb and the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 to actually deliver, however: an eye-catching hybrid offering the touch-usability of a slate and the content creation flexibility of a Keyboard Dock. Asus can only build 10K Eee Pad Transformer tablets per month

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet launched late last month with tight supplies. Most of the tablets sold out quickly in the US at the various retailers who sold the Transformer leaving many shoppers empty handed and wondering why Asus didn’t just make more. Eee Pad Transformer launches and short supply is almost gone already

Asus created a lot of buzz with its cool Android tablet called the Eee Pad Transformer when the tablet was unveiled a few months back. Asus had previously warned that the tablet would have low supply at launch and that it would be prioritizing the UK for the launch. The launch day was reported to be April 26 a few days ago and that day is here. ASUS Eee Pad Transformer gets US/Canada release date & pricing

ASUS has confirmed that the Eee Pad Transformer will launch in the US and Canada from April 26. The 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablet - which has an optional battery-toting keyboard attachment - will be priced at $399 for the 16GB TF101-A1 model, and at $499 for the 32GB TF101-B1 version.
