ASUS has released an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the original Eee Pad Transformer. The Taiwanese company announced the update today, posting the release notes to its blog. ASUS teased an update to its popular Transformer Prime tablet just the other day, and ASUS UK has taken to Twitter to inform the world that the update should be rolling out right this very minute. ASUS US remained secretive on the details surround the update, although their Italian cousins were happy to reveal the info. Hasbro denied ASUS Transformer Prime sales ban

The lawsuit that Hasbro brought against ASUS in December last year certainly hasn’t seemed to slow the company from pumping out new Transformer tablets. Hasbro claimed that the Transformer name overlapped with its line of toys, and seeked a ban of tablet sales within the US. A judge didn’t see it that way, and has denied their motion for a sales ban. Apparently Asus really knows the definition of "soon." The company announced earlier today that it had begun issuing upgrades of the Android-powered Transformer TF101 tablet in Taiwan, bringing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the device. A video has just been released this week by ASUS for the Mobile World Congress 2012 release of a brand new tablet with "twice the detail, twice the fun." We must assume, of course, that this is not the same tablet we saw at CES 2012 in the Transformer Prime 700 series, instead we're banking on the idea that it's an upgrade for the original Transformer - this being less expensive and slightly less powerful than the Prime for more reasons than one. This week we're seeing once more the next generation of ASUS Transformer tablet complete with Android and an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor inside. This device today has showed up in some benchmark results as its code-name Transformer TF300T. ASUS Eee Pad Transformer owners may have to hold out a little longer for Ice Cream Sandwich, with the release window for Android 4.0 on the Tegra 2 tablet now extending into March 2012. ASUS Singapore took to Facebook to confirm the bad news, after previous indications from the company tipped a February release for the first-gen tablet. The Tegra 3 quadcore slate - which we reviewed back in December - has since seen an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, which ASUS released ahead of schedule this week, and comes with a removable battery-equipped QWERTY keyboard for extending runtime and easing text entry. NVIDIA and ASUS have announced not only the first official (according to Google) Ice Cream Sandwich tablet this week with the Transformer Prime (its release from today,) they've come out with the real release of the ASUS Eee Pad MeMO, a 7-inch tablet with a quad-core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, all of it for a mere $249. This is the real iPad killer, as that term has become so common, and here it is. The display is a lovely 7-inch WXGA resolution IPS panel, there's 1GB of memory inside, and it has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor on the inside. Read The Full Story
