Archos 9 PC Tablet gets Atom Z515 1.2GHz update

Archos have got around to updating their Archos 9 PC Tablet with the promised 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z515 processor, boosting performance slightly over the original 1.1GHz chip.  Now available to order for $549.99 at the company's US store, it's unclear whether Archos have changed any other of the specifications - we're hoping for a faster hard-drive, frankly - since the spec page still details the older model.

Archos 1 Vision PMP reviewed: cheap but definitely not cheerful

Archos 1 Vision PMP reviewed: cheap but definitely not cheerful

While fanboi debates rage just as strongly as they ever did, in general gadgets across the board are better designed, better constructed and better performing than we could've hoped for five or so years ago.  That's why it's so nice to find a real humdinger of a review for Archos' 1 Vision PMP, an MP3 player that anythingbutipod describe as having "bad build quality, awkward design, peculiar button placements, an undeniably unnecessary power switch, somewhat peculiar menus and an extra features set that might as well not have been there."

Archos Phone Tablet axed over poor carrier support?

Archos Phone Tablet axed over poor carrier support?

Archos' Android-based Phone Tablet was meant to make an appearance at CES 2010 a few months back, and after it failed to show up there we assumed it would be spotted at either MWC 2010 or CeBIT 2010 this week.  That doesn't look to be the case, however - Archos have outed their new Home Tablets and a range of PMPs, but no smartphone - and according to French financial paper Les Echoes (quoted by LesMobiles) the device may in fact never launch.

Not, perhaps, as interesting as the company's new Home Tablets, but Archos also have a line of new and updated PMPs to show at CeBIT 2010.  The Archos Vision Series ranges from the tiny 24g Vision A14VG, with a video-capable 1.4-inch LCD display, FM radio and 4GB of storage, to the 4.3-inch touchscreen Vision A43VB, with 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, 30hr battery and a video-output for playing content on a bigger display.

Archos 9 PC Tablet getting 1.2GHz CPU update; capacitive screen & 3G in the works?

The Archos 9 PC Tablet - plagued by launch delays and partially scuppered with underperforming components - may not be the star of CeBIT 2010 this week, but according to a talkative employee from the company it's scheduled to get a refresh relatively soon.  The rep told jkkmobile that the Archos 9 will see its CPU updated to a 1.2GHz chip, bringing with it HyperThreading support, an improvement in the GPU and a faster bus speed.  Meanwhile, down the line there are apparently even bigger changes afoot.
