Apple's iPad 2 has been carrying the torch for the best quality display, but a recent comparison test suggests that it may be ousted by the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The test was conducted by DisplayMate, comparing the iPad 2 display to that of various other Android tablets in addition to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, including the Motorola XOOM, Acer Iconia Tab A500, and the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer.

Third worker dies after Foxconn plant explosion, Foxconn and Apple offer statements

We reported on the tragic explosion that happened in the Chinese Foxconn factory where the Apple iPad 2 is made on Friday. The explosion apparently was the result of combustible aluminum dust that was in ducts in the polishing section of the plant according to initial investigations. Two workers were killed in the initial explosion and there are still several other workers in the hospital. M.I.C. Gadget reports that the combustible dust had apparently gathered in a dust collecting pipe.

Good morning, or good afternoon to you all, depending on where you abide. It's been another busy morning at SlashGear, and we have lots of news to wrap up for you. Verizon's 4G LTE network is down nationwide, relegating those with a 4G hotspot or an HTC Thunderbolt to 1x speeds, but don't worry, there is a workaround. Also Sony defends its handling of the PSN hack, and the sluggish pace of getting information to customers. Acer comes out with not one but two 3D devices, and Nintendo lets us know that sales of its 3DS are "weaker than expected". iPad 2 shipping now within 1-2 week range

Waits for the iPad 2 are getting down to a reasonable timeframe now, as the Apple Store is showing 1-2 week delivery times. So it looks like the craziness surrounding the iPad 2 launch has finally started to calm down, and supply is catching up with demand. A few days after launch, shipping time was up to 3-4 weeks. The demand for the device is still high, and the iPad still predicted to be the bestselling tablet through 2015. Now, though, it may begin to be a bit easier to get your hands on one.

One of the teachers in the reading development labs started using her personal Ipad 2 with some of her most troubled students. They showed such remarkable progress so quickly that the school board decided to jump in and give it to all of the kids this next year.

Verizon iPad 2 Roaming Bug

Verizon's customers have been reporting a strange bug with their new IPad 2's. When they first bust out their new tablet everything seems hunky dory, but then once they set up their account their device seems to be locked into Data Roaming mode. Their iPad just doesn't recognize the Verizon towers properly. Even more irritating, the data service doesn't even work unless Data Roaming is turned on in the device. Fail.
