A6 chip introduced for iPhone 5 with fastest-ever performance

Apple has introduced the A6 chip for their next-generation iPhone 5 hardware this afternoon at the event which also showed off several more impressive bits of hardware and software enhancements. The iPhone 5's A6 chip has been touted as having 2x faster CPU performance than the previous chip and brings on 2x the graphics performance as well. This chip has been shown as bringing on launches of apps at nearly 2x the speed as the previous iPhone on the whole.

Tim Cook notes iPad selling 84 million units since introduction

This week Apple has announced at their big iPhone 5 event that the iPad is doing better than any other tablet on the market and is out-doing every other manufacturer's entire PC lineup. That means that the amount of iPads Apple sells is more than any other manufacturer sells of every PC they've got on the shelves. They've announced that through last year they had a massive 62% market share and that, according to Tim Cook, "almost all of the Fortune 500 are testing or deploying iPads. And they're investing in custom apps. This is something none of them do on the PC."

The company is known for not live streaming its announcements, allowing only certain media in on the news first. The new iPad pre-orders up now

The folks at Apple have released their next generation iPad device titled simply "The new iPad" and pre-orders for the $499 device have gone live. This device will not be shipped until March 16th, the same availability date for the device around the world, and full pricing includes both internal memory increases as well as an upgrade to two different kinds of 4G LTE here in the USA, one for AT&T, the other for Verizon. This device has a set of upgrades over the iPad 2, the previous generation iPad, and has essentially the same chassis size as that unit as well.

The new iPad 3rd Generation event wrap-up

The 2012 version of the iPad has been revealed, and with a Retina Display, 5-megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording, Voice Dictation, and 4G LTE, all of this backed up by the new A5X chip, we've very likely got another winner on our hands. Apple went through the device point by point, letting us know first that the high definition display would blow our minds while the rest of the features would back it up with fantastic media capture, high quality content, and the ability to access that content at high speeds with LTE. Now we've just got to set it all out in front of us and decide if this generation iPad is worth picking up!
