You also get a 2W stereo speaker setup built in, though we’re guessing most users will want to plug in an external system if they care about audio at all. The 16:9 aspect panel has 250 cd/m2 brightness and a 5ms response time, and AOC is quoting the usual, ridiculous dynamic contrast ratio: in this case, 20,000,000:1.

AOC throws in two pairs of 3D glasses, one traditional set and another that clip onto prescription glasses; you can also use them with other passive 3D displays, like HDTVs. The ACO E2352PHZ is on sale now, priced at $299.

If you are an iPhone user that wants somewhere to put your iPhone when you are working on the computer, AOC has a new screen you might want to checkout. The new display is called the AOC e2343Fi and the dock for the iPhone is directly under the screen on its round base. The dock on the stand will also work with dockable iPods as well.

The screen is 23-inches wide and the dock will shoot video content from the iPhone or iPod directly to the 23-inch screen for viewing. The dock also uses SRS Premium Sound loudspeakers. The ability to shoot video directly to the screen and improve audio makes the display a nice multimedia station for iPhone and iPod users.

The e2343Fi will be on display at CES next month. AOC will also be showing off a new 3D display at CES in 23-inch size and a mobile USB display. That USB display can be a portable monitor or a digital photo frame. Pricing and availability on the displays is unknown.

AOC has unveiled its latest product called the e1649fwu. This 15.6-inch LCD monitor uses DisplayLink technology to allow the connection to a notebook or a desktop with a single USB port. That single USB port provides both power and graphics connectivity. The display makes it very easy to connect a second screen to run multiple displays on your machine.

The monitor will sell for a reasonable price of $139 and it has a resolution of 1366 x 768 at 60Hz. It is very power efficient with a draw of only eight watts of power and it has an integrated stand. That stand can support the monitor in portrait or landscape mode. It lacks integrated speakers and sports a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The brightness rating for the screen is 200 cd/m2 and the contrast ratio is 500:1. It supports 16 million colors and is energy star compliant. You can pick one up from several online sources and retail stores right now.

If you work from a small laptop on the go and want a larger screen than what the computer has by default, there are a few options out there. We went hands-on not long ago with the Lenovo LT1421 14-inch USB powered LCD for instance. Today a new portable screen that gets power and connectivity from a USB port has launched from AOC.

The new display is called the e1649fwu and it has a 16-inch screen with a 15.6-inch viewable image. That makes it the size of your typical notebook screen. The display will land in October at retail outlets across the country for $139. The display has decent specs considering it is made to be powered for the USB port. The display has 50M:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 250cd brightness.

It has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 and a 5MS response time so it shouldn’t have issues with ghosting. The display has an integrated Smart Stand that pivots out and stores flush against the back of the monitor when not needed for portability. The display doesn’t support HDCP so you can’t use it or Blu-ray playback.

Inputs include DVI-D with HDCP support, and there’s Screen+ software onboard – the big differentiator between these three and the previous Aire range – to split the display up into four individual, easily-managed desktops. Power consumption is said to be a miserly 15W in use and 0.1W in standby.

The three new AOCs are available now, priced at $129 for the 20-inch e2043Fk, $149 for the 22-inch e2243Fwk and $179 for the 23-inch e2343Fk.

Press Release:

AOC Launches the Ultra-Slim Aire Black LED Monitor

New addition to the AireLED Series includes 12.7 mm-thin monitors with embedded Screen+ Feature and DVI-D with HDCP input

Fremont, Calif. – February 23, 2011– AOC, the world’s largest manufacturer of LCD/LED Monitors and HDTVs, reveals the Aire Black LED, a glossy piano-black monitor featuring one of the world’s slimmest display panels. This new all-black addition to the popular AireLED Series offers bonus features like embedded Screen+ software that allows the user to divide the screen into four self-contained work areas. The Aire Black LED monitor comes in 20-inch (e2043Fk, $129), 22-inch (e2243Fwk, $149) and 23-inch (e2343Fk, $179) screen sizes, and is now available at national retailers including Best Buy, Radio Shack, Office Max, Fry’s, TigerDirect/CompUSA and PC Richards, among others.

The sleek widescreen Aire Black LED Monitor is one of the slimmest display panels on the market at 12.7 mm throughout. The monitor also offers impressive image quality with a 50,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 5ms response time, and a DVI-D with HDCP input for the ultimate HD viewing experience. Along with being EPEAT Gold Certified for its green packaging and production, the Aire Black LED Monitor on average consumes only 15 watts of energy and includes an eSaver feature that lets the user preset power conservation modes for the display when the PC is not in use. The monitor’s Power Saving Mode uses 50 percent less power, and Standby Mode uses only 0.1w.

“A clean and modern aesthetic coupled with amazing image quality have made the AireLED Series one of our most popular monitor lines for both business and home use,” said Robert Velez, AOC Marketing Manager. “The Aire Black LED display reduces energy costs and offers incredible value, which is a trademark of the AOC brand and products.”

The versatile Aire Black LED Monitor has a built-in VESA stand that locks into place so that the monitor can be used on a desktop and easily mounted on a wall by simply pushing a button and folding the stand at its tilt hinge. No assembly is required for the stand, making the monitor a helpful solution for businesses that require visual displays but have limited space. The monitor’s easily accessible connections are located at the back of the stand, while its front features convenient LED touch controls for power and onscreen display.

Still, it has the usual range of connectivity, with VGA, DVI-HDCP and USB 2.0, though we’d have liked to have seen HDMI on there as well. Meanwhile, the AOC i2353Fh is the company’s super-skinny model, a 23-inch flatscreen which is just 9.6mm in thickness. It has a pair of HDMI inputs.

There are also new business and home displays, detailed in the press release below. AOC is being pretty miserly on the specs, availability and pricing at the moment, but we’ll update when we know more.

Press Release:

Slender design: AOC presents a series of ultra-slim monitors with LED backlight

Berlin, 27 October 2010 – The profile of the new monitor series from display specialist AOC measures just 12.9 mm. With its minimalist design it is aimed particularly at sophisticated users who are looking for the latest LED technology as well as an ultimate design statement for their office or home. The six widescreen models range from 47 cm/18.5” to 58.5 cm/23” and have an aspect ratio of 16:9. All monitors impress with excellent image quality, quick response times, generous viewing angles and economical energy consumption.

New slenderness
The minimalistic models, kept in a modern white, turn heads above all with their slim design of just 12.9 mm. Due to their clear language of form, the displays are perfectly suited to modern home and office environments. What makes the monitors special is the fact that they do not have any of the usual buttons. Adjustments can be made easily via the touch-sensitive keys integrated into the base which light up as soon as a finger comes near them.

Strong inner values
Whether playing fast-paced games, watching current blockbusters or enjoying multimedia applications, the high dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 50,000,000:1 and fast response time of just 5 milliseconds always ensure detail-rich and natural images free from delays and ghosting.

Versatile and convenient
With this new display series, AOC also introduces an innovative concept for the base: When the foot is folded backwards by approx. 90° it transforms into a wall bracket within seconds. For additional comfort, the screen can be tilted forwards by up to 5 degrees or 20 degrees towards the back. Equipped with an analogue D-Sub and/or digital DVI-D port (with HDCP), the displays provide a matching connector for any application.

Focus on the environment
A resource-efficient production is of high importance at AOC. All monitors, for instance, are manufactured entirely mercury-free, and the economical product packaging is 100 % recyclable. Thanks to the electricity-saving LED backlight technology current environmental standards such as ENERGY STAR 5.0 or EPEAT-Silver are fulfilled. Even the 58.5 cm/23” model makes do with just under 28 watts when in use – and in standby mode the power consumption drops to under one watt in all models.

The new AOC monitors e943Fws (47 cm/18.5″), e2043Fs (50.8 cm/20″), e2243Fws / e2243Fw (54.7 cm/21.5″) and e2343F/e2343Fs (58.5 cm/23″) are available with immediate effect.

When it comes to increasing my work productivity and more realistic video games, I want a large screen LCD. For me 24-inches is the smallest I want to go and I really prefer a 30-inch LCD. The catch is that there are still only a few 30-inch screens on the market.

There are several 24-inch LCDs available though and AOC has added a new 24-inch 2436Vw LCD to its line. The best feature is that the screen sells for a bargain price of $219.99 and is available now online and at Fry’s.

The screen has a glossy black case and sports a 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio along with a 5ms response time. The resolution isn’t up to par with some 24-inch screens out there with 1920 x 1080 being the max resolution for the 2436Vw. I prefer 1920 x 1200 on 24-inch screens, but at least the AOC LCD does 1080p. Brightness is 300CD/m2 and the LCD has a DVI-D input that it HDCP compatible for Blu-ray content. AOC claims that the display consumes only 49-watts of power at max settings.

AOC are well known for their reasonably priced monitors, and with the 2230Fh they threw eye-catching design into the ring too. A 22-inch widescreen LCD display, running at 1680 x 1050, the 2230Fh pairs a low $299 MRSP with a surprising array of connectivity. Is it a true bargain though, or just a load of marketing boasts? Read on for the full SlashGear review.

In terms of appearance, while this may be billed as a budget LCD display it doesn’t necessarily look that way. The piano black front bezel and decorative rear and side effect are much more attractive than your typical low-end monitor, and though the stand isn’t height-adjustable it does at least have a relatively small footprint. There’s also a standard VESA mount on the back, meaning hanging the 2230Fh on a wall or off a riser arm shouldn’t be too much struggle.

Setting up the 2230Fh is a straightforward matter too, involving choosing between its single HDMI, DVI or VGA D-Sub inputs. There’s also a stereo audio-in port, taking a standard 3.5mm jack, for using the 2230Fh’s discretely integrated speakers. AOC use a simple OSD with easy access to the main settings, though we imagine most people will use it as it comes out of the box.

That’s a shame, because the default settings seem to prioritize eye-catching brightness rather than usability. The dynamic contrast is aggressive and hard on the eyes, especially when the 2230Fh is stood next to a properly calibrated display, and the standard contrast setting proved beyond the comfort zone for web surfing and reading. Admittedly, with its 2ms response time and 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, AOC are targeting the 2230Fh more at gamers and movie-addicts than regular desk users.

Step through the preset modes, however, and there are a number of toned-down settings far more suitable for everyday use. Each preset can be tweaked, too, meaning even without a proper calibration tool you’re likely to find a reasonable setup. Slightly disappointingly – but unsurprising given our experience with TN panels – even with a calibration tool we were unable to get accurate colors across the panel. Color-shift particularly is noticeable from edge to edge.

Unlike some manufacturers who have stuck with TN panels, AOC have not given the 2230Fh a better glass panel to improve on color shift and increase color gamut. That’s likely a cost-saving measure, but it does make the display more aesthetically appealing at least. Sound quality is surprisingly good for integrated speakers, though anybody coming from a 2.1 setup with a standalone subwoofer will notice the lack of bass.

Still, with minimal ghosting and a decent breadth of connectivity thanks to that HDCP-compliant HDMI port, the 2230Fh proves itself a flexible and pleasing option for the budget buyer. Given the limits of its TN panel, we’d shy away from recommending it to graphics professionals or anybody doing video editing, but gamers will find plenty here to appeal.

At its MRSP of $299.99 it’s a reasonable choice; when you factor in online prices of around two-thirds of that, complete with a three-year manufacturers warranty, the AOC 2230Fh presents a very tempting offer indeed.

Since the economy is in a serious downturn, AOC has decided to offer a much more affordable monitor that still possesses the style and functionality of some of the higher priced models. The F19 is a 16:9 widescreen display that sports a slim form factor at a decent price.

The F19 is a 19-inch monitor. It uses a silver navigation ring for adjusting settings and has a post stand that lets you tilt the display at any angle you wish for optimum visibility. It has 16.7 million colors, a 10000:1 contrast ratio, a 5m response time and more. It also features DVI and analog inputs.

The glossy black finish is a real eye-catcher, as well. The AOC F19 19-inch monitor costs only $159.99, making it the perfect choice for those that are on a budget but still require a high performance display.

The V17 has a transparent bezel, glass base and integrated stereo speakers (albeit only 1W each). Connections include a standard D-Sub for analog RGB, with a 3.5mm audio input. There’s also a built-in digital microphone and AOC include video conferencing software.

The AOC V17 will be available at the end of 2008, with a MRSP of $199.99. It apparently paves the way for AOC’s upcoming range of WLED ultra-thin monitors, while will be launched at the beginning of 2009.

AOC have shown us their big displays, now they’re trying to persuade us that smaller can be just as impressive. Their latest Envision 861-series comes in three sizes – 19, 26 and 32-inches – are have resolutions apparently “tailored for optimum viewing with limited space”. The smallest comes in at 1440 x 900 while the larger two manage 1366 x768; not really true HD, despite the ‘HDTV’ tag, as most consumers would expect it (e.g. 1080p).

According to the press release, “for about the price of one large screen HDTV that’s probably too large for any room in your home, you can buy three and create your own Urban Living HD Video Suite.” Each has at one HDMI input (two on the 32-inch model), a PC input with audio, digital ATSC and Clear QAM tuners, and a swivel base.

What’s perhaps the smallest is the price, though. Just $299 for the 19-inch L19W861, rising to $499 for the 26-inch L26W861 and finally $599 for the 32-inch L32W861. The sets should be available now.

AOC seem to be on a roll with fresh displays, with a further three new models arriving today. Most interesting, perhaps, is the 2230Fm HD3 display, which combines a 22-inch 1080p LCD with a built-in media player. Plug a memory card or USB stick into either the USB port or 4-in-1 card reader, and you can access any photos or video stored on it through the HD3 menu system.

The screen itself boasts a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time, and there are low profile integrated speakers, analog VGA D-sub or DVI ports, and DVI-D & HDMI with HDCP.

Meanwhile, the 2218Ph is intended to take on Apple’s design team, with a zinc and aluminum casing and specifications that AOC are saying will out-perform Cupertino’s coveted screens. A 22-inch display with 12,000:1 contrast ratio, 2ms response time, HDMI input and illuminating touch-sensitive controls certainly look good on paper. The panel itself can rotate for portrait or landscape use.

Finally, the L42H861 goes for impressive inches; a full HDTV 1080p 42-inch display, it has a 6,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, Digital ATSC and Clear QAM Tuner, and a viewing angle of more than 176 degrees. AOC are saying that it will produce great pictures not only with new HD channels but also old standard-def favorites. Inputs are horizontal for ease of wall-mounting, and include three HDMI ports, S/PDIF digital audio out, and PC input with audio.

The 2230Fm HD3 will be priced at $399.99, while the 2218Ph has an MSRP of $429.99. The L42H861 will be priced at $999.99. More details at AOC.

AOC are a brand more traditionally associated with computer monitors, but all that playing with LCD panels seems to have given them a taste for frivolity and their latest display is more home entertainment than home office. A 22-inch high-definition TV, the AOC 2230Fh combines HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs for the best of work and play. It’s no terrible compromise, either; a 20,000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time is highly respectable.

There are a few other nice touches: the shiny, faceted casing has the same finish front and back, meaning the rear of the display – usually a whole lot more dreary than the bezel is – isn’t something you’d mind having on display. Integrated stereo speakers lurk almost invisibly, and for ease of use the OSD setup can either be controlled directly from the 2230Fh’s buttons or remotely, via a supplied software app.

It’s not exactly the biggest high-definition screen we’ve seen, but then neither is the price. AOC say the 2230Fh should be available now, with a MRSP of $299.99.
