Myst Online makes a comeback

By Chris on Thursday, Jul 3rd 2008 No Comments

There are some online games out there that just won’t die. That’s not really a bad thing, but I have to say that after playing a game and having everything I’d worked on deleted for the second time, I wouldn’t really feel like going back to it. That being said, Myst Online: Uru Live is coming back.

If you’ve never played Chrono Trigger before, you’ve missed out one of the better RPG titles of the Super Nintendo era. It made the rounds again on a PlayStation re-release, however, come this holiday season, you won’t need to dust off an old console to play this classic.

If you guys are anything like me, you’re pretty damn excited about Rock Band 2. Details on the game are still fairly scarce (and will likely remain so until E3), however, we do have an idea of when we’ll see the game on store shelves. Let’s just say that Xbox 360 owners will be a little happier than everyone else.

Diablo III announced

By Chris on Monday, Jun 30th 2008 No Comments

Diablo II definitely ranks among my list of favorite games for the PC. There’s just something about hacking and slashing my way through the minions of evil that I just can’t get enough of. I’m pretty sure it’s only been around a year since the last time I played it. Like many other fans of the series, I was disappointed long ago when it was stated that there would be no future Diablo titles. However, Blizzard has since changed their tune, as the third game in the series has been officially announced.

Man, every now and then I get blindsided by an announcement that I just wasn’t expecting. Sure, we all knew that Harmonix was working on Rock Band 2, but I really didn’t expect to hear anything official until E3 at the earliest. Well the cat’s out of the bag, so read on for some highlights of what to expect about this awesome sequel.

So the great mystery has finally been solved. What is Crysis Warhead? It is a “parallel story” to the original game which puts you in the role of “Psycho”. You’ll essentially be playing during the events of Crysis, only this time you’ll be in his shoes.

Soul Calibur is a title that rarely disappoints, and usually manages to excite gamers with awesome cameos from some of their favorite characters. The fourth installment is no different, this time tapping Darth Vader and Yoda to pull in Star Wars fans. Well it seems that they’ve decided to slip in one extra character from the Star Wars universe, and this one will be on both versions of the game.

Crytek cancels 1.3 patch for Crysis

By Chris on Wednesday, Jun 4th 2008 1 Comment

I remember back in the good old days when a game came out, you were stuck with it as-is. Nowadays we’re graced with high speed internet and frequent patches, updates and additional content. So when a developer announces that they have decided to stop releasing patches for a game that really isn’t that old.

Cysis

Crytek had been talking big about some changes that would be coming to Crysis, including a Linux dedicated server release. However, they recently stated that there will be no 1.3 patch (the next logical update) and that they are putting the Linux server release on hold. While this is obviously upsetting to players, they added this little tidbit to provide a ray of hope. ” . . . we hope you understand when you hear more about the reasons why in the very, very near future.”

Rock Band goes to Japan

By Chris on Wednesday, Jun 4th 2008 No Comments

It seems that Rock Band has done moderately well (see: awesome) here in the US, so it’s only natural that they’re going to want to release the game in other parts of the world. We’ve known for some time that they were going to have a European release (even if it did take a really long time to get there), but this is the first we’ve heard about it turning Japanese.

There’s no doubt that World of Warcraft is the most successful MMORPG in history, but it can’t hold that title forever. It’s going to take one hell of a game to take its crown, and it looks like Age of Conan just might be the one to do it.
