Nintendo denies iOS and Android game plans

Nintendo is having a hard time in the gaming market right now with its new 3DS console not selling well. The 3DS needed until mid-June to move a million units in Japan, which is much longer than it took the previous portable console to sell the same amount. The Toshiba Thrive is a small 7-inch Android tablet that some fans of Android have been looking forward to getting their hands on for a long time. The tablet hit pre-order on Amazon starting at $430 last month. We also learned last month that the Android 3.1 version was postponed. The Thrive has been expected to land on July 10. LG Revolution LTE Review

With all the Android smartphones to choose from, the field of competition is getting a little crowded. However, the 4G battle field has a much lower population. (There is a separate battle about what 4G actually means. See the SlashGear 4G section for more on that discussion). Now LG is bringing the newly released Revolution to the battlefield. The Revolution was released on Verizon’s LTE network. Since the Revolution is only the third LTE phone, there is even less competition on the LTE playing field. It is no secret that we love the speeds possible on LTE, but does the Revolution have what it takes to compete with the glossy hi-def display of the Droid Charge, or the performance of the HTC ThunderBolt? T-Mobile makes WiFi calling free for users with compatible phones

If you are a user of the T-Mobile network in the US and you have a mobile phone with supports UMA we have some good news for you. You can now make WiFi calls on your T-Mobile device that don't count against the number of minutes you are allotted monthly. Before now, the calls placed using WiFi did count against your allotment. That was hardly a good deal for customers since the calls typically used the bandwidth and WiFi connectivity that the user was paying for already. Read The Full Story

iPhone storing tracking details on users even with location services off

There are a lot of times when you iPhone or other device needs to know your location to give you the service you are looking for. For instance if you are looking for a gas station near you or trying to find your way to a destination the app on your iPhone will need to know where you are right now. There are also times when your iPhone doesn't need to know where you are and has no need to be storing those details. Welcome to this week's edition of the SlashGear Week in Review! If you are a PC hardware geek an AMD spokesman causally showed off an unannounced video card on Monday called the HD 6990. The card has dual GPUs and should be very fast. We heard a bit of early detail on the PSP2 from Nikkei that claimed the new portable would have an OLED touchscreen, 3G and a new CPU.
