Pioneer Music Tap audio systems support AirPlay and more

Pioneer has rolled out a bunch of stuff today and among the new offerings is a pair of Music Tap audio systems. One of the players is the X-SMC3-S Music Tap and the other is the Pioneer Elite branded X-SMC4-Elite Music Tap. Both of the players support Airplay and network music playback. The systems connect to home networks wirelessly or via Ethernet connections. Both have integrated WiFi ready for wireless networks right out of the box.

Boutique wireless speaker manufacturer Libratone has pounced on AirPlay, announcing a pair of new all-in-one units - the Lounge and the Live - back in July that each use Apple's streaming technology, and we caught up with them at IFA 2011 this week to listen to the results. The Live looks identical to the Libratone Live we reviewed earlier this year, but swaps AirPlay for the company's proprietary wireless, while the Lounge is a far larger system intended to be wall-mounted under your TV.

Boxee has released Boxee for iPad, allowing users to begin watching content on their Apple tablet then transfer playback to their HTPC Boxee Box midway through, optionally controlling the whole thing from an iPhone-based remote app. The free iPad app [iTunes link] is accompanied by the new Boxee Media Manager, which can be used to stream video to the tablet from your PC or Mac; Boxee Box owners, meanwhile, can stream content in the other direction.

Pioneer Elite VSX receivers pack AirPlay, DLNA streaming, more

Pioneer has revealed its latest batch of Elite receivers, throwing in Apple AirPlay support along with the company's own Air Jam collaborative playlist system, which allows multiple devices to contribute tracks to a single playlist. The Pioneer VSX-40, VSX-50, VSX-51, VSX-52 and VSX-53 offer seven channels of up to 110W each, have DLNA streaming media support (on all but the VSX-40), and support external zones for multi-room playback.
