Cambridge Audio Minx Air 100 Review

Does the world need another AirPlay speaker? Cambridge Audio thinks so, and the new Minx series of streaming media players is the result: the Minx Air 100, on the SlashGear test bench today, and its doubly-powerful Air 200 sibling. It’s not hard to see where Cambridge Audio got their style inspiration from for the Air 100, either: it looks a whole lot like a Sonos PLAY:3, though the functionality is different. Rather than focus on multi-room use, the Air 100 instead positions itself as an individual hub for all gadgets musical, whether that’s AirPlay, Bluetooth, internet radio, or something more old-school. HBO Go now supports AirPlay, coming to Apple TV soon

Today at the Dive into Media conference, HBO's President and COO, Eric Kessler, announced that HBO Go will now support Apple's AirPlay protocol, and will also be coming to the Apple TV at some point in the future. The addition of AirPlay support means that HBO Go subscribers can beam their content from their iOS devices to the big-screen TV in the living room, provided that you have an Apple TV to do the grunt work. Forget AirPlay: Netflix and YouTube out DIAL for second-screen simplicity

Netflix has officially detailed its Apple AirPlay alternative, DIAL, created in collaboration with YouTube and promising intuitive second-screen entertainment. Already garnering the support of the BBC, Sony, Hulu, and Samsung, DIAL - or "discovery and launch" - aims to streamline the second-screen experience, by automatically discovering compliant devices and starting up apps on them. Skifta released for iOS for instant DLNA and AirPlay command

The Apple family of mobile devices are about to get a taste of what it means to be able to instantly connect to your own home network for media streaming magic thanks to Qualcomm's Skifta. This app is being described at the moment as "a first release with feature parity as an eventual goal", meaning it will have some of the features the Android version has presently with a few bits not quite up to speed at launch. Linn might not be the first name you associate with iPhone and iPad streaming, but the Scottish company is hoping that change all that with its "budget" Kiko media streamer. Wool-clad speaker company Libratone has outed its latest model, the Zipp, a wireless AirPlay-enabled model with battery life good for four hours of standalone streaming. Borrowing the fabric covered style of its felty predecessors, the Zipp supports direct AirPlay connections using Libratone's own PlayDirect WiFi technology, allowing the $399 speaker to hook straight up to your iPhone or iPad rather than requiring a wireless network in-between.
