This week we've gotten the opportunity to take a peek at the newest version of Acer's hero for the 7-inch tablet form factor in the Acer Iconia Tab A110. This device has been upgraded beyond its original A100 form with a larger battery, an NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.2GHz quad-core processor, and has become just a bit lighter. Acer Iconia W700 and W510 Windows 8 tablets bring the OS in style

This week at Computex, Acer has been bringing the Windows 8 fury right out of the gate with two lovely new tablets, one of them the 10.1-inch W510, the other the 11.6-inch W700. Both of these devices are Iconia branded Acer machines with cradle and/or keyboard packaged along with, acting here at first as desktop replacement units. We'll have to see how well they perform before we make any judgements, especially given how much we still need our notebooks already in this tablet-heavy modern mobile world we live in - will these devices change the way we compute?

But until now, we didn't know anything about the price.

Acer Iconia Tab W500 hands-on shows the laptop tablet that wasn’t

We've seen this device before, it having been on display early last year at Mobile World Congress 2011, but it being here at Pepcom during CES 2012 is more than a little telling for a device that was supposed to be a hit with Windows users throughout most of last year. When it comes to convertible tablets, your humble narrator's favorite device is the Transformer Prime, not least of all because it's able to fold down and be a laptop whenever you decide you want to transport it in such a way, not to mention the fact that it's got a fully functional trackpad to make it a high-class convertible in every aspect of the word - so why is it selling off the shelves while the Iconia Tab W500 remains one of the loneliest tablets in Acer's line of otherwise amazing hardware?

Acer Iconia Tab A700 continues Android ICS drive with NVIDIA Tegra 3

There's a whole mess of tablets coming in 2012, and if what Acer is presenting already in leaked photos is any indication, their Iconia Tab A700 10-inch tablet is just one tip of the iceberg, with it's NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Ice Cream Sandwich putting it in the running for world's greatest aside the ASUS Transformer Prime. There's no way to gauge if this machine will stand up the tests its predecessors the A500, A501, and A100 were subject to, but by the looks of it, Acer's certainly stayed the course with design sensibilities on the outside. Look for this device to appear at CES 2012 aside its A200 brethren without a doubt.

Tablets finally undercutting $500 iPad, but will it matter?

As you already may well know, the iPad is not a tablet PC, it is an iPad. Thus is the brilliance of the brand-masters at Apple and thus is massive success the iPad has seen so far. What we've been seeing over the past few months is a welcome change on the part of many manufacturers and carriers trying to sell their tablet computers in the face of a very much iPad-saturated market: price cuts. A whole heck of a lot of price cuts, in fact, with everyone from HTC to Lenovo cutting tablet prices on carriers and in big time tablet-pushing stores like Best Buy.
