Microsoft explains Lumia 650’s lack of Windows’ most business-friendly feature

On the surface, the Microsoft Lumia 650 seems like a smartphone ready and willing to take on the business world. What with its perfectly capable build, display, camera, and price, Microsoft seems to have created a device that's ready to roll for businesses of all sizes. That's who they're marketing the device towards, anyway. But why, you might ask, does this device lack one of the most interesting smartphone features the company has introduced in the past several years - Continuum? We asked Microsoft.

Hulu gets a universal Windows app and Cortana support

Hulu gets a universal Windows app and Cortana support

For many years, I've wondered when Microsoft would get around to having a unified platform. They've had a desktop OS, smartphones, gaming consoles, and even an MP3 player for ages now, but they were always very different devices that only barely communicated with each other. Only with the release of Windows 10 has Microsoft been able to create a truly unified platform. Today, Hulu has joined that platform by releasing their universal Windows 10 app.

Internet Archive now has, and runs, Windows 3.1 programs

The Internet Archive, perhaps more known for its archive.org address, has an interesting history. What started as a website to hold old copies of web pages for posterity's sake, the archives has become home to the many of the computing world's history, both the highs and the lows, from websites to games and, more recently, even malware. And now, the Internet Archive has added one more important part of history, making available Windows 3.1 programs for yesteryears, and allowing uses not only to view but even run such ancient software in their browsers.

Windows tablets rose 11% in 2015 at Apple’s expense

Windows tablets rose 11% in 2015 at Apple’s expense

The tablet market had it hard in 2015, with shipments having sunk even further than the previous year. Almost all analysts seem to agree to that. What some of the most popular ones don't seem to see eye to eye is who among those tablet vendors actually won in the market last year, at least relatively speaking. We've seen IDC's analysis of how the large iPad Pro helped put Apple above the crowd. Strategy Analytics, however, paints a slightly different picture. Sure, Apple has the bigger numbers, but Windows tablets are the ones that actually saw the most, in fact only, growth.
