HTC Vive saw 15,000 pre-orders in its first 10 minutes

It seems there's a lot of people out there ready to dive into the future of consumer virtual reality devices. The new consumer edition of HTC's Vive headset is priced at $799, but that didn't stop eager buyers from placing their pre-order when sales opened on Monday morning. Turns out the first 10 minutes alone saw 15,000 orders placed, said HTC VR employee Shen Ye on Twitter earlier today.

HTC and Valve open pre-orders for the HTC Vive, the full room-scale virtual reality headset. This headset will include several games and apps for free. One is Google's Tilt Brush, an app which allows users to paint in 3D space using the HTC Vive's hand controllers. This system will also include Job Simulator - where you can pretend you have a job - and Fantastic Contraption. Pre-orders for the HTC Vive virtual reality system open this week on February 29th at 10 AM Eastern Time.
