Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro brings on QHD 13-inch display and Voice Control

With the expansion of the abilities available to manufacturers with the release of Windows 8.1 and the 4th generation Intel Core (Haswell) family of processors, Lenovo this week aims to show its dominance in the "Multimode" world of notebook computing with the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. This device takes what was presented in the original Yoga and brings it to a much more futuristic place with the addition of software that detects which of four modes the device is in, suggesting ideal apps for each, Lenovo Voice Control, and Lenovo Motion Control 2.0. This notebook also comes in with a 13-inch display with 3200 x 1800 (QHD+) pixel resolution with 10-point multitouch capabilities.

Sony teased a new form-factor laptop for IFA 2013, and the VAIO Fit is just that machine, a Windows 8 ultrabook that converts into a tablet in a way that actually manages to be unique despite all the convertibles we've seen before. In fact, it's a whole family of devices: offered in 13-, 14-, and 15-inch sizes, each VAIO Fit uses Sony's new Multi-Flip system, where the laptop screen tilts up, the rear panel folds, and the whole thing collapses down on itself into a tablet. This week in Berlin at IFA 2013 the folks at Lenovo has brought on a new wave of ThinkPad Ultrabooks for the latter half of this year. This device portfolio includes additions to the Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and S Series Ultrabooks with the T440s, T440, X240, S440, and S540. In the T and X series models you'll find 20 percent thinner form factors under recent reboots, a collection of options in each of these devices bright panels, and a massive 45 percent larger size on each of their clickpads. The whole lot works with new 4th generation Intel Core processor technology as well.

Dell has done as anticipated and rolled out the carpet for a couple of new laptops, the Dell Latitude 7000 12.5- and 14-inch ultrabooks. Inside, users will find Intel Haswell processors, with the laptops themselves looking very similar to many older models from Dell's Latitude lineup. Both models of the 7000 series are available now, with the smaller model being priced at $1170 and the 14-inch at $1050.

Toshiba Satellite U and M notebooks go Haswell in full refresh

Intel has inspired another full refresh in Toshiba's Satellite M and U laptop lines, this time bringing on touchscreen capabilities as well. Both notebook lines now work with up to 16GB RAM (2 x 8GB slots) and 39.6cm (15.6") HD displays, kicking out up to 7 hours of battery life, the whole lot of them. They're both coming with DTS Studio Sound audio enhancements across their speaker systems for loud, powerful music and media as well.
