Dell introduced the Latitude 6430u business ultrabook back in the early summer of 2012, and soon after complaints regarding a peculiar odor began surfacing on the company's product forums. According to many owners, the laptop is off-gassing an odor that smells, for lack of more sophisticated phrase, "like cat pee." Though the company responded with typical tech support advice like cleaning the vents with compressed air, today it released a more official response.

The notebook team at Samsung have unveiled a new Ultrabook configuration this week in the ATIV Book 9 Plus, a machine rolling out with a build just a pinch (or a punch, whichever you perceive it to be) of a feature set upgrade. This new configuration still works with a 13.3-inch QHD+ 3200 x 1800 pixel display with 10-point multitouch abilities, but this time you're rolling with Windows 8.1 right out of the box. This configuration also - importantly - works with an Intel Core i7 processor (Haswell) rather than the same generation in i5 style.

Sony VAIO Tap 11 and VAIO Flip hybrid notebook get priced for October

Sony took a two-pronged approach with Windows 8 tablets back at IFA 2013 last month, opting to hit both the slate form-factor with the VAIO Tap 11 and the convertible hybrid with the VAIO Flip, and now the company has confirmed price and availability for both. The Sony VAIO Flip 13A, 14A, and 15A are all landing in late October, priced from $749, complete with a clever folding-rotating touchscreen running at at least Full HD resolution. Meanwhile, the Sony VAIO Tap 11 is the thinnest Windows 8 tablet around.
