Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review

Lenovo has rolled out a variety of business-chic ThinkPad laptops over the past few months, as well as the wonderfully flexible Yoga 2 Pro. We've reviewed several of the company's devices in recent times, including the T440s, the X240, and the ThinkPad Yoga. While they're all fine machines, none of them live up to the sheer beauty and svelte thin profile that is the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. With this laptop comes an ultra-thin profile that tapers into an edge so thin, one is tempted to think it can slice bread, a high 2560 x 1440 resolution display that is aptly described as eye-candy, and the iconic ThinkPad design.

Dell introduced the Latitude 6430u business ultrabook back in the early summer of 2012, and soon after complaints regarding a peculiar odor began surfacing on the company's product forums. According to many owners, the laptop is off-gassing an odor that smells, for lack of more sophisticated phrase, "like cat pee." Though the company responded with typical tech support advice like cleaning the vents with compressed air, today it released a more official response.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus beefed up with Core i7 and Windows 8.1

The notebook team at Samsung have unveiled a new Ultrabook configuration this week in the ATIV Book 9 Plus, a machine rolling out with a build just a pinch (or a punch, whichever you perceive it to be) of a feature set upgrade. This new configuration still works with a 13.3-inch QHD+ 3200 x 1800 pixel display with 10-point multitouch abilities, but this time you're rolling with Windows 8.1 right out of the box. This configuration also - importantly - works with an Intel Core i7 processor (Haswell) rather than the same generation in i5 style.
