Ubisoft kicks Watch Dogs release back to 2014

It would appear that the folks at Ubisoft aren't entirely ready to roll out their titles Watch Dogs and The Crew just yet, as they've pushed the titles back from the 2013-14 season to 2014-15 instead. This morning's announcement came with word that the company would also be adjusting financial targets for the coming season, owing largely to the change of dates for the two relatively large title releases. The games will be ready to roll for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 starting next year.

Watch Dogs calls out GTA V: 2 months is enough

Suggesting that both games are tied inextricably to their city-based environments, Ubisoft has called out Rockstar Games with an advertisement for Watch Dogs at the expense of Grand Theft Auto 5 this afternoon. The game GTA V is an "open sandbox" game which allows the user to run freely through the fictional island-based city of Los Santos, while Watch Dogs takes place in a futuristic Chicago. Ubisoft suggests that the amount of time between the launch of GTA V (today) and Watch Dogs (November) is plenty for a friendly visit.

Wii U ZombiU so unprofitable Ubisoft puts Nintendo on notice

Dire sales of flagship games for the Wii U have left developers like Ubisoft, Activision, and EA freezing development for Nintendo's console, with launch titles like ZombiU failing to make a profit. The zombie game, one of the featured titles released alongside the Wii U in November 2012, was "not even close" to making a profit, Ubisoft chairman and CEO Yves Guillemot admitted to GamesIndustry, with the studio now having no intention to make a sequel and in fact opting to hedge its bets with cross-platform support on what was initially to be a new Wii U-only game.

While Ubisoft already made it clear that it would be releasing its next open world action-adventure game for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, and the Xbox 360, it still didn't confirm whether or not Watch Dogs would be released for the next-gen Xbox (although then again, why would it leave it out?).
