Pebble Time teased in Red, charger design done

With the Pebble Time Kickstarter ending with a bang, all that's left is for Pebble to deliver on its promise. Being Pebble, there is perhaps little doubt they can pull that off too, but it's still a good thing to hear an update or two from them. Last week, they teased some of the software functionality of smartwatch. This time, they're going for a bit of hardware, showing off one of the new Pebble Time color options as well as the finished charger cable design.

Apple rejecting Pebble apps doesn’t bode well for Android Wear

Apple rejecting Pebble apps doesn’t bode well for Android Wear

Apple closely curating its App Store makes it more difficult for malware and poor quality apps to go through, but it does come at a price that developers sometimes find out the hard way. There are times when apps are rejected for the most unreasonable reasons or sometimes for new reasons that have been added under developers' noses. That inconsistency seems to be at work here again, with some developers reporting that their apps are suddenly being rejected, and sometimes accepted, due to on single reason: they mention support for Pebble.

Pebble reveals plan to aid developers in creating ‘smartstraps’

Earlier this month, Pebble showed off its "smartstrap" aspirations, something that will allow others to develop intelligent straps for the latest upcoming Pebble smartwatches. Now the company is back with another update, this time zeroing in on the how -- namely, that it'll be pushing that development into gear with a new million-dollar fund set to aid developers in making -- and launching -- their own Pebble smartstraps. Developers will still need to launch their own funding campaigns, but under this Pebble will back the strap itself if it likes what it sees.

Pebble belittles the competition, calls dibs on simplicity

Unless you've been asleep for the past 24 hours, it might have caught your attention that Apple has finally launched its own take on the smartwatch fad, not called an iWatch but simply an Apple Watch. Cupertino is just the latest but definitely one of the most high profile entries into a fledgling market segment that still has some scratching their heads, and Pebble claims to know why. It's because Apple, Samsung, and Google are practically putting smartphones on people's wrists, forgetting the watch part of the equation.

Hungry? No problem with Domino’s pizza on your smartwatch

Hungry? No problem with Domino’s pizza on your smartwatch

The idea behind smartwatches is that they become your bridge to your smartphone for instances when you can't dig out your mobile device from your bag or pocket. That is why they have mostly been relegated to simple, one off tasks like notifications, quick replies, reminders, or accepting/rejecting voice calls. They're not usually meant to replace your smartphone, but that might just be what Domino's is aiming for by letting you order a pizza right from the convenience of your Pebble or Android Wear smartwatch.
