PS Vita gets PlayStation Plus in November

In addition to announcing a brand new, super-slim PS3 model at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony finally gave a time frame for the arrival of PlayStation Plus on PS Vita. Sony announced that PlayStation Plus would be coming to PS Vita back at Gamescom in July, but today it announced that PS Plus will launch November. Unfortunately, the company didn't get any more specific than that, so it looks like we'll be left waiting for additional details once again.

Well here's a surprising bit of gaming news: it turns out that indie gem Terraria will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network next year. Publisher 505 Games announced the console version of the much-loved PC title today. Sadly, there isn't a solid release date for the console version of the game yet, with 505 Games and developer Engine Software merely saying it'll be out "early next year."

Sony and DirecTV bringing NFL Sunday Ticket to PS3

Sony and DirecTV have announced that they've teamed up once again this year to bring PS3 owners access to NFL Sunday Ticket. The two companies did the same thing last year, but there's one key difference this time around: the price. Users "without access" to DirecTV can get NFL Sunday Ticket on PS3 for $299.95, which - even though it sounds pretty expensive - is a bit cheaper than it was last year.

Anonymous claims new PSN hack, Sony says it didn’t happen

Here's something that's rather interesting: Anonymous is claiming that it has hacked the PlayStation Network, making off with information on 10 million accounts. Anonymous announced the hack on its Twitter account just over an hour ago (though that tweet has since been removed), and someone claiming to be "the man behind Anonymous" posted this list of emails and encrypted passwords reportedly stolen from PSN as proof of the attack.

Limbo could have been on PSN first, but Sony wanted IP

Playdead's Limbo took the indie world by storm when it launched on Xbox Live back in 2010, but Sony could have had the game on PSN before it went to any other platforms. Instead, Limbo was exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade for an entire year before it became available on PSN and PC, and even though the game sold well on PSN when it finally did arrive, that period of exclusivity would have netted many more sales. So, why didn't Limbo hit PSN before any of the other platforms? It's because Sony botched the deal.

Dyad ultra-colorful indie game hits PlayStation Network on July 17

If you fancy yourself a gamer, you're likely dying of boredom as we trudge through the all-too-familiar summer release drought. Most big-time developers and publishers like to slow it down a bit during the summer months, which used to mean that there were almost no notable releases between April and August. Thankfully, these days we have a robust indie gaming scene, and with many triple-A publishers avoiding summer altogether, it gives games like Dyad a chance to truly shine.

Sony PSN a more reliable revenue stream than Xbox Live

Sony PSN a more reliable revenue stream than Xbox Live

Sony has been monetizing its online gaming network at a stronger rate than its biggest competitor. That is, if you don't count the cost of Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus. We're only talking about payments for individual pieces of content, like game add-ons, full game downloads, TV shows, and movies, and other pay-per-title forms of media. More than 15% of PS3 owners have paid for a piece of digital content on their console.
