Jetpack Joyride becoming a free download on PSN

Jetpack Joyride is already on a number of different platforms - most notably iOS and Android - but just in case the mobile version isn't enough to satisfy your coin collecting cravings, you might like to know that it's going free-to-play on PSN. The switch is happening today in Europe, while North American PSN users will have to wait until Monday, December 31 to snatch the game up at no cost. Sony isn’t liable for PSN hack, says California judge

Last year, Sony's PlayStation Network was hacked, resulting in a massive breach of users' personal information, something the company delayed in announcing. A class-action lawsuit was filed against the company, which was mostly dismissed this morning by a California district judge. The reason? Sony didn't promise users perfect security. Sony unveils PSN Day 1 Digital program

Sony is always looking for more ways to make the PS3 standout from the likes of the Xbox 360 and Wii (soon to be Wii U), and one new way its doing that is by putting games on PSN the same day they launch at retail. Unveiled today, Sony's new "PSN Day 1 Digital" program will kick off in October with the release of Resident Evil 6, letting users purchase and download full, new games on launch day right from their couch. PS Vita gets PlayStation Plus in November

In addition to announcing a brand new, super-slim PS3 model at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony finally gave a time frame for the arrival of PlayStation Plus on PS Vita. Sony announced that PlayStation Plus would be coming to PS Vita back at Gamescom in July, but today it announced that PS Plus will launch November. Unfortunately, the company didn't get any more specific than that, so it looks like we'll be left waiting for additional details once again. Read The Full Story

Terraria coming to Xbox 360, PS3 next year

Well here's a surprising bit of gaming news: it turns out that indie gem Terraria will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network next year. Publisher 505 Games announced the console version of the much-loved PC title today. Sadly, there isn't a solid release date for the console version of the game yet, with 505 Games and developer Engine Software merely saying it'll be out "early next year." Read The Full Story

Sony and DirecTV bringing NFL Sunday Ticket to PS3

Sony and DirecTV have announced that they've teamed up once again this year to bring PS3 owners access to NFL Sunday Ticket. The two companies did the same thing last year, but there's one key difference this time around: the price. Users "without access" to DirecTV can get NFL Sunday Ticket on PS3 for $299.95, which - even though it sounds pretty expensive - is a bit cheaper than it was last year. Read The Full Story

Anonymous claims new PSN hack, Sony says it didn’t happen

Here's something that's rather interesting: Anonymous is claiming that it has hacked the PlayStation Network, making off with information on 10 million accounts. Anonymous announced the hack on its Twitter account just over an hour ago (though that tweet has since been removed), and someone claiming to be "the man behind Anonymous" posted this list of emails and encrypted passwords reportedly stolen from PSN as proof of the attack. Fan interest for TimeSplitters 4 not high enough yet, Crytek says

Sad news coming out of Crytek today, as it seems that the long-awaited TimeSplitters 4 will have to wait a bit longer. We've been hearing rumors of TimeSplitters 4's existence for years now, but in an interview with VG247, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli said that fan interest is not yet high enough to justify making the game. Limbo could have been on PSN first, but Sony wanted IP

Playdead's Limbo took the indie world by storm when it launched on Xbox Live back in 2010, but Sony could have had the game on PSN before it went to any other platforms. Instead, Limbo was exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade for an entire year before it became available on PSN and PC, and even though the game sold well on PSN when it finally did arrive, that period of exclusivity would have netted many more sales.
