LEGO Avengers SHIELD Helicarrier revealed: very massive

LEGO Avengers SHIELD Helicarrier revealed: very massive

To be entirely clear up front, this model does NOT reflect what we're about to see in the Avengers: Age of Ultron film. Instead, this is a set made based on the first Avengers film, already released in theaters and long since placed on Blu-ray, DVD, etc. This particular set also reminds us that there's more than one scale at which LEGO sets are built - this one contains several super tiny minifigs (called MICROfigures) that allow this set to exist on a scale that's reasonable for the average builder.

EVB puts BeagleBone in your LEGO EV3 projects

LEGO is one of the most popular building systems out there for geeks who like to tinker with robotics and DIY construction. The LEGO EV3 kit has a control system brain that allows the projects to be programmed with complex behaviors to do all sorts of stuff. A new brain for the Mindstorms kit called the EVB, which is a shield for BeagleBone Black, has debuted that aims to make projects built with the EV3 kit more functional.

LEGO Movie Oscar snub: not a tragedy

LEGO Movie Oscar snub: not a tragedy

This morning it was made clear by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that The LEGO Movie wasn't up to snuff for their Oscars awards ceremony. The Oscars, previously known as The Academy Awards, have selected five (as always) nominees for Animated Feature Film including Big Hero 6, Song of the Sea, The Boxtrolls, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Fear not though, LEGO lovers, the creators of the film aren't fretting - in fact, one of the two directors of the film has called this situation "not a tragedy."

LEGO 2015 includes Invisible Jet, Hulkbuster, Stormtroopers

This upcoming LEGO-filled year is going to be filled with some really, really strange sets. The January - June catalog (the German version) for LEGO has been released and it's packed with Avengers: Age of Ultron, new DC and Marvel Comics sets, and Star Wars. Don't expect to see any Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets quite yet as the film is set to be released in December, but feel free to get pumped about the inordinate amount of Stormtroopers coming in multiple sets in the first quarter of the year.

LEGO Simpsons to return for 2015

LEGO Simpsons to return for 2015

Apparently the success of the co-branding alliance between LEGO and The Simpsons was enough to inspire a second wave. Thus reads the rumor mill this week with a list of LEGO minifigures that'll likely be released this May. There's also word of a second LEGO Simpsons full-sized brick set to match with the original Simpsons House. This second Simpsons LEGO set will be the Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (71016), and it'll also be released this May of 2015. As for another episode of The Simpsons matched with LEGO - that's looking a lot less likely.

Lego to release Wonder Woman’s invisible jet, sadly it is visible

Lego has announced that one of its sets to come out next year based on the DC Superheroes line will include Wonder Woman and her famed vehicle of choice, the invisible jet. Except the pieces used to build the aircraft are actually visible, and when you put them all together, they're still not invisible. Which kinda sucks. But there's not much else one can expect when everyone's favorite plastic bricks are still bound by the laws of science, is there?

Star Wars The Force Awakens trailer: The Parody Collection

The next Star Wars movie is so highly anticipated that the first trailer - the first TEASER trailer, at that - has become the subject of parodies and remakes. Today you're going to see an Original Trilogy remake. You're going to see a LEGO remake. You're going to see a remake done in the Wes Anderson style. You're going to see more Star Wars: The Force Awakens remakes than you know what to do with - especially ones that use exactly the same audio and match the original trailer shot-for-shot.
