Alcatel ONE TOUCH IDOL ALPHA revealed with light-up edges

This week the folks at Alcatel have revealed the likes of the ONE TOUCH IDOL ALPHA - all in caps, just like that - as the lead for its new line of IDOL smartphone devices. This machine brings on a 4.7-inch display coming in at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution with IPS LCD technology backing it up. This machine works with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean under the hood with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor (of unnamed pedigree) with a 12.1-megapixel camera at its back.

In what must be IFA 2013's best candidate for "Jack of All Trades" smartphone device is the ALCATEL ONE TOUCH HERO (all in caps, to be proper), with a built-in stylus, E Ink cover, and Pico Projector accessory. This device is like a cherry-picked do-it-all smartphone made to take on every odd ability smartphones have been graced with over the past two years. Alcatel presents in the HERO a device that - believe it or not - may just be able to live up to its name.

Sony Xperia Z1 specifications leak in full

It would appear that Sony's notoriously unlucky streak of leaking the ins and outs of the smartphone known as the Xperia Z1 have reached their height with no less than a full press release leak just one day before it's scheduled to go live. Straight from Xperia Blog comes this gush of information (the screenshot of which we'll not be sharing simply because it's the same info we're about to recount) including a Sony G Lens on the back of this smartphone with 27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture. The camera on this device (on the back, again,) also works with a 1/2.3-inch 20.7MP Exmor RSCMOS image sensor - so you know you're going to be meaning business when this device is snapping shots.

This device portfolio includes additions to the Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and S Series Ultrabooks with the T440s, T440, X240, S440, and S540. In the T and X series models you'll find 20 percent thinner form factors under recent reboots, a collection of options in each of these devices bright panels, and a massive 45 percent larger size on each of their clickpads. The whole lot works with new 4th generation Intel Core processor technology as well.

Leaks dealing with the Sony Honami have been plentiful. And thankfully, more recently we began seeing some teasing come direct from Sony as well. Though we've seen the Sony "Lens Camera" devices appear connected to smartphones before, today a set of press photos suggests that the user might be able to use these devices without a companion smart unit at all. Where before we'd assumed that it was the smartphone - or tablet - that allowed a Sony Lens Camera to be controlled, today a set of photos that very much appear to be press-quality (aka real from Sony, more than likely) show a couple of users working with these devices without being physically attached to the smartphone in hand.

Samsung has dropped their latest IFA 2013 related teaser video. This one is on the shorter side and is offering a look at the secrets of Samsung technology. While these secrets are clearly made up for the video, it does appear as if Samsung will be able to capture some attention using this one. Of course, we suspect many are looking forward till the official Samsung announcement, which is happening on September 4.
