When Will That Apple Television Finally Launch?

The Apple Television has been rumored for a long, long time. We’ve heard that the television will come in multiple sizes, probably be priced a bit higher than the average set on the market, and integrate iCloud. Better yet, it’ll support apps, allowing for more functionality across the board.

The most talk surrounding the television cropped up last year when Walter Isaacson published his Steve Jobs biography. In that, Jobs noted that he believed that he had finally “cracked” the code for a television that would best all others in the marketplace. Analysts, ready to predict Apple’s plans, performed a host of supply chain checks to find out if Apple was in fact working on a television. Nearly universally, they said that it indeed was.

Apple HDTV tipped to include 3D Imaging Magic

It would appear that the next-generation Apple TV set that's been rumored for many, many moons may well be coming with a bang - a 3D imaging bang that's more than twice its worth in bucks. It's being reported today by analysts at Morgan Stanley that Apple will not just be bringing a full-fledged TV set to the market very soon, but that it could very well be bringing with it a barrage of next-generation context-aware or otherwise 3D sensitive technology. This set of suggestions comes from a combination of a rather "ripe" market for an "iTV" product and the fact that Apple has filed a lovely collection of patents over the past set of years that together would create a magical device ready for hot sales and an imminent release.

Apple HDTV product tipped as “imminent”

It may very well be time that Apple introduces another new product, this time taking what they've already got on the market with the ThunderBolt display and the Apple TV set-top box and combining them into one next-level product. This product - or something like it - was tipped this week by Jefferies analyst James Kisner whose anonymous source spoke with a North American cable provider (aka he said, she said, down the line) who said they were "working to estimate how much additional capacity may be needed for a new Apple device on their broadband data network." Another possibility here is that the talks earlier today with Dish and Google may have leaked over into Apple's universe.

Vizio Co-Star gets Google Play support

Vizio's Co-Star streaming device now has support for Google Play, allowing users to download content and apps from the Play store and utilize it on their HDTV. Content can be synced from other devices to the streaming device, making it easier to manage purchases. The update was released today, and "will be pushed out automatically over the coming days." The update also brings with it enhanced HDMI and audio stability, better Netflix performance, and faster menus and navigation.
