Viewsonic VX2475Smhl 24-inch 4K monitor boasts 3820 x 2160 resolution

Viewsonic has announced that it is now shipping its latest 24-inch 4K resolution monitor called the VX2475Smhl. The multimedia monitor is aimed at all sorts of uses from high resolution gaming to watching HD films. Native resolution for the panel is 3820 x 2160 and Viewsonic uses a SuperClear PLS panel that provides wide viewing angles with a response time of 4ms for clear playback in fast games and movie scenes.

First announced earlier this year, the first smart TV's running Firefox OS are finally available for sale in Europe. In a partnership between Panasonic and Firefox, six models of the Panasonic Viera smart TV's will now run the Linux-based OS. The availability of each model depends on the European country. Although they're not available stateside yet, the Firefox OS Vieras are set to launch globally "in the coming months."

Netflix is about to launch another original series, this one called Sense8. This feature will include 12 episodes, the whole collection created by The Matrix trilogy creators Andy and Lana Wachowski and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. This series was written and created by the Watchowskis and Straczynski and directing will be done by a variety of excellent creatives. This series will be released all at once on June 5th, 2015, and it was filmed in 4K UHD. And it'll be released and available for streaming in 4K UHD as well.

Comcast dives in on 4K hardware with “Xi4″ set-top box

This week the folks at Comcast have decided there's plenty of 4K content out in the wild. Enough, at least, to release a 4K Ultra High-Definition Set-Top Box for consumers. The "X1 set-top box" has been announced on the X1 platform, delivering Xfinity TV costumers with 4K UHD content. For those of you that aren't familiar, "UHD" also means "Ultra-HD", and essentially means the same as the term "4K", or a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels across a single screen - your screen, the screen you have in your living room.

At the National Association of Broadcaster’s show in Las Vegas this week, RED is bringing out a new weapon for their arsenal. No, really, a weapon. The WEAPON is RED’s latest camera from the company that pioneered slightly-affordable, high-end cameras. According to RED, “WEAPON combines optimal color science and dynamic range of the 19 megapixel RED DRAGON® sensor with all new built-in functionality and intuitive design”. RED says WEAPON is their “smallest and most lightweight BRAIN ever.”
