T-Mobile Simple Starter offers entry 4G without overage risk

T-Mobile USA has launched a new "value" plan, Simple Starter, offering LTE data including tethering, along with unlimited talk and text, for $40 per month. The new plan, part of what T-Mobile calls its continuing "Uncarrier" movement, will also distinguish itself by cutting 4G data access when the subscriber reaches the 500MB limit, rather than allowing them to go over and then charging them overage fees.

T-Mobile plans LTE for all by mid-2015: Snipes Verizon ads

T-Mobile has started a new LTE roll-out, aiming to upgrade half of its existing 2G/EDGE spectrum to 4G by the end of 2014, along with an ambitious roadmap to use 700MHz A-Block spectrum it's currently in the process of acquiring for even more LTE this year. The news, which comes around a year after T-Mobile began its first LTE service, should see existing 2G and EDGE areas updated to LTE by the middle of 2015, the carrier predicts, as its legal department gets busy trying to take on Verizon Wireless' coverage maps.

2015 Audi A3 baked-in AT&T LTE detailed for smart dashboard

Audi and AT&T have confirmed pricing for the integrated 4G LTE connection in the 2015 A3, offering both 6-month and 30-month standalone subscriptions, in addition to plans to include the new sedan in Mobile Share later this year. The car, which will be officially launched this month, will come with six months of LTE service for Audi Connect in the US when new, after which data access will be priced from $99.

NVIDIA has added LTE to its Tegra NOTE 7 tablet, with the Tegra NOTE 7 LTE set to take the previously WiFi-only Android slate online from Q2, while also broadening availability across several new companies. Cadillac has unveiled the 2015 ATS Coupe, a compact luxury two-door based on the ATS sedan, and one of the first of the marque's cars to get "Connected by OnStar" 4G LTE integrated. Hitting showrooms this summer, the ATS Coupe will offer a choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and two engines, for what Cadillac claims is a "distinctive American alternative" to the BMW 428i and other rivals.

T-Mobile: Our LTE is faster, and AT&T needs to stop saying otherwise

T-Mobile has been talking Wideband LTE at CES, with early trials showing 147 Mbps downloads, while real-time tests of the carrier's existing 4G network are already out-performing AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. The carrier is using Speedtest.net results for a more timely indication of how T-Mobile's 4G compares to that of rivals. Meanwhile CEO John Legere ramped up his war with AT&T with the promise of a Cease & Desist letter.
