Nationwide LTE data test finds AT&T fastest, Verizon most reliable

A United States-wide test of mobile data has been run this year with each of the top mobile service providers under the magnifying glass. This is not the first time PC Mag has run such a test, but as in each successive year, this year's test has been the most expansive. What they've found is that while the two two carriers are indeed top-class in one category or another, no one brand dominated the whole pack.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 appears as first LTE edition in USA

The mid-sized machine known as Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 has made its way to the USA before this week, but never with wireless data abilities beyond Wi-fi. Today AT&T has jumped onboard with the machine, bringing their own 4G LTE network to the 8-inch display-toting tablet with S-Pen technology. Though AT&T hasn't officially stated when they'll be releasing this machine specifically, they have noted that it'll be coming to the network "in the coming weeks."

BlackBerry Q10 arrives at AT&T on pre-order starting tomorrow

This week BlackBerry brings their hero QWERTY BlackBerry 10 device to the big blue network, AT&T's 4G LTE network in the United States. This device will be arriving on pre-order first and foremost, with final in-store availability coming sooner than later. This device works with BlackBerry 10's slightly smaller user interface as the Z10 continues to roll forth with a full-screen touch interface on several carriers since early 2013.

Verizon HTC One official: coming “later this summer”

This morning the folks at Verizon made the HTC One official for their 4G LTE network in the United States, ending weeks of rumors and tips aimed at the point. This device will work with the same specifications as it had on other carriers in the United States and internationally, carrying the HTC One hero name as it does so. At the moment, Verizon has only specified that the HTC One will be coming later this summer.

Verizon HTC One enters Bluetooth certification process

Though such an appearance of a smartphone in Bluetooth certification listings would be a non-news situation, the code corresponding to the HTC One with Verizon-friendly innards has kicked up the proverbial fan dust this morning. What's happening here is that a device with the code HTC6500LVW has appeared seeking Bluetooth certification for the USA, this code corresponding to the HTC M7 working with Verizon's collection of wireless data radio bands. This effectively means there's another HTC One on the way, the one Verizon fans have been waiting for. UPDATE: The Verizon HTC One is now official.

Though it was reported earlier this week that the Samsung GALAXY S 4 would be the first device on the market with the ability to work with Verizon's next-generation mobile data network via AWS, it's become apparent that this device is not alone. This week it's become apparent that not only does the Samsung GALAXY S 4 work on Verizon's 4G LTE network now, it'll soon be the first to work on the network's next-generation system. Speaking with Bloomberg on the matter earlier today, Verizon's vice president of network support Mike Haberman made it clear: the carrier's next network upgrade will work on the GALAXY S 4 after a simple software download.
