NVIDIA hits AT&T 4G LTE with Icera 410

This morning the folks at NVIDIA have announced their first trip into the world of AT&T 4G LTE with the Icera 410 LTE mulimode data modem chipset for tablets and clamshell devices. This chipset paves the way for NVIDIA to be working on the 4G LTE network AT&T offers in the very near future and through the future as well with Tegra-powered devices galore. The qualification tests this chipset has just gone through will allow product manufacturers from all corners of the market to quickly and easily get set up with 4G LTE and will set NVIDIA up for big wins in the connected AT&T smart device market for some time to come.

HTC EVO 4G LTE shipping date now May 24

In what's quickly becoming one of the most hotly anticipated smartphones on its carrier of choice, the HTC EVO 4G LTE's release situation has just turned back to positive with a May 24th ship date on the books. The HTC EVO 4G LTE was recently the subject of an investigation / check sort of event at the US border while HTC's shipment (which also included HTC One X) units were held up on account of their supposed patent-infringing software. Since we first heard that news, HTC's newest relative of the HTC One series has been cleared - or is about to be cleared, at least, as its carrier suggests the late May shipping date as a reality for pre-order customers. Verizon global 4G LTE comes to four new phones

In an expansion that can only be called global-minded, the folks at Verizon are today letting it be known that four more Android phones will soon be approved for global use. Three DROID-branded Motorola devices as well as HTC's Rezound will be bringing on global roaming so that we'll be able to bring them with next year to Mobile World Congress if we wish! Customers will be seeing notifications on their smartphones when the software update is available, and yes, it is a software update that everyone will have to initiate, even if they don't plan on flying soon. Samsung teams with US Cellular for LTE hotspot

Verizon Unlimited Data addressed in official statement

This morning Verizon has released an official statement on what was said yesterday by the company's CFO in regards to the end of Unlimited Data plans for smartphones and tablets. This statement assures the public that no hard and fast plans have been announced for current or prospective customers other than their current data sharing project already in the works now for some time. Verizon CFO kills Unlimited Data for LTE upgrades

This week at the 40th J.P. Morgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said that the company would have all grandfathered 3G unlimited data plans migrating to 4G turned away from unlimited data in the very near future. This update will have the original $30 a month plan axed entirely for those making the switch, with users wishing to stay on 3G continuing to keep their unlimited plans for the foreseeable future. By mid-summer, all 3G update candidates to 4G will be on the company’s data-share plan.

NVIDIA and partner acquire 500 wireless patents

NVIDIA has partnered with Intellectual Ventures in order to acquire roughly 500 patents owned by IPWireless. All the patents revolve around wireless technologies, including 3G, LTE, and LTE-Advanced. The acquisition closed on April 30th, but the terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. IPWireless will retain access to the patents royalty-free, with the portfolio split between NVIDIA and Intellectual Ventures. Read The Full Story

HTC EVO 4G LTE New Orleans ImageChip Tour
