Some interesting feedback from our Slingbox Giveaway last week was the number of people curious about Tablet PC and UMPC news; while we wait for the tardy manufacturers to ship their review units over to us, why don’t you step on over to Tablet PC Review and take a goosey-gander at their piece on TabletKiosk’s eo v7110 unit.

With a VIA 1.0GHz C7-M processor, between 256mb and 1gb of RAM and hard-drive options ranging from 40gb to 160gb, TabletKiosk are pricing this eo at the budget-end of their range.  Remember, that’s UMPC’s version of budget; at $899 it’s still not a cheap machine.  Still, connectivity is pretty well served with 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 on-board as standard, and it’s undeniably cool to have full Windows XP running on something so compact.

Is the v7110 worth the cash?  Reviewer Barry Doyle is free-flowing with his praise of the flexibility, appearance and initial price-point, although he reserves a little disappointment for the poor battery life among other things.  To my mind, until they can deliver more than two hours of battery, UMPCs aren’t going to change many mainstream reviewers’ opinions; it’s sad, as I believe the concept has great potential.
