I’m always getting told off for leaving my laptop charger cable trailing across the floor; I don’t notice it, but apparently wires are “untidy”.  Maybe what I need is this Fat Leg Table – it has a bat-the-rat hollow leg through which you can route your cables and keep them out of the way.  Designed by Richard Shed back in 2004, it’s available for sale although I think it’d be fun to try to build (or adapt) one of your own.  Saying that, please keep the Dremel away from that Louis XV side-table; it’s an heirloom don’t'cha know.
