I also worked for at&t as an ARSM and must agree they are extreemly greedy. On the other side of things the union has forced them to be like this. Take away a union that is not needed and find some additional income for their employees as at&t would not have to deal with much useless garbadge. Want more income as a sales employee? Stop giving it away to some union! On the other topic, a merger of the two companies would not create more jobs, it would eliminate them. Think about it. Not only a loss of jobs from T-Mobile employees but a loss of many more with Sprint when they are forced to close additional stores. Merging companies dont create jobs.
I have met Randal Stephenson, he is an extremely intelligent peson. At the same time, his priorities are with creating more bottom-line dollars for at&t and it shareholders (rightfully so). However, this is all done at the expense of our economy, our jobs and our livelyhood. If he were to set priorities with his country (not referring to this so-called government), it's people and the common wealth, along with God and the foundations of this country we would all be in a better condition now.
A $3B payout is a drop in the bucket and at&t will provide spectrum to T-Mobile as they continue to use it. Nothing has realy changed. They will continue to business as usual, stepping on toes, slaughtering the economy and providing an equal payout to those in congress who give them all they want.
For now ill stick with Verizon and know my money is not supporting some union official's evil habbits. I will also know that my money stays within our country. American Telephone and Telegraph has strayed too far from American for me.

They "wanted to sell" from what I can understand because they want to concentrate on their European market - I assume their return on investment is better there. In the US, T-Mobile could never land the iPhone and their new sales suffered. They also were slow to grow the data market appropriately which takes a fairly hefty infrastructure investment. It's the old, "if you snooze, you lose" thing.

However, I use to work for BellSouth and when AT&T purchased us, it completely destroyed the employees... layoffs, right-sizing, abuse of management training for strike duty (forced extra work that was NOT compensated), and eventually the management of the SE by fools in Texas. When you think AT&T, think SBC... they are the stinky-fish of the old baby-Bells... and that fish stinks from the head. Of course, there are a bunch of local kiss-butt managers that emerged from the BellSouth ashes but they are no Phoenixes, rather they are just buzzards taking the system for whatever they can personally acquire... staff be damned.

Since when has a merger every created jobs? AT&T's claims of 100K new jobs? What company needs two Accounting and Billing departments? Two Sales staffs? Two HR departments? Tow Customer Service departments? Were they going to leave both the AT&T and T-Mobile stores that are only 100' apart in your local mall open? Not to mention AT&T's proud accomplishment of being the worst in Customer Service for the 2nd year in a row! As along time T-Mobile customer this merger would have offered me nothing but higher monthly rates, once my contract expires and worse customer service. I don't see how that makes me better off.

I am a retired AT&T manager with a concession for local/ADSL services.... BUT I cannot use these services because the fools at AT&T cannot get the billing right... it gets fixed for 1 cycle and then some IT this or that screws up the "fix" and I go to regular rates or even higher... Then when I catch the error, the billing has already processed by debit card and by the time some IQ of 30 CS person has determine the billing is incorrect, and that I have to resubmit a new concession form... it is too late to get my money refunded... past 30 days!!!

So I have CLEAR for Internet access and HAD T-Mobile for mobile until they went crazy, too... see next post.

T-Mobile and their miserable customer care department is doing everything they can to alienate future and existing customers. I only use WiFi and my mobile was voice-only, no text and no data because I am retired and sit on 2 wireless nodes and my wife works and sits on a business ADSL all day... we do not have any needs for mobile data. But the engineering fools at T-Mobile took down T-Zones and when my phone saw the firewall removed, it started checking email during our drives away from home and office... unknown and unapproved by us. I stupidly allowed T-Mobile to use their Easy Pay option to bill me and when I got a $28 additional fee back in October, I started checking and saw a data charge. After hours of calls, I finally found a competent manager that disabled the data access for by ESN, but he could not refund the $28 that was already billed. So I disputed the charge with my MasterCard holder... and they did a provisional credit while the investigation is ongoing. Last week, I got a demand letter from T-Mobile Financial for the $28 plus a $25 fee to be paid in 10 days or they would turn the bill over to a collection agency and also notify the credit bureaus. What kind of insanity is this when a customer cannot dispute a charge and go into arbitration?

"""this merger would have benefited not only the company but their
customers as well with improved coverage amongst other things. It would
have also gave the T-Mobile employees a much larger opportunity to
advance their careers and make a considerable amount more in their
yearly income.""""
LOL! Seriously? Are you so blinded?

As a former AT&T customer I had high hopes it would fail. The worst experience I every had was as an AT&T customer. I grew to hate them with a passion as they screwed up my phone bill and then refused to fix it. In the end, my only option was to leave the company. I am not alone either, they are again ranked the worst in customer satisfaction by their customers this year. If they had bought T-Mobile I would have to leave and go to Verizon. Now I can stay where I am. T-Mobile has the best customer experience in my opinion. At least they have always taken care of me. AT&T is a consitent screw up and they don't care tenough to fix it.

Why do the deserve it? Are you a disgruntled customer whose DSL went down not allowing you to be able to play your Call of Duty game? Or are you someone making and uneducated comment about something you know nothing about? I used to work at AT&T and agree they are a very greedy company however this merger would have benefited not only the company but their customers as well with improved coverage amongst other things. It would have also gave the T-Mobile employees a much larger opportunity to advance their careers and make a considerable amount more in their yearly income. Instead T-Mobile will go to sprint who pay their employees pennies and who don't support a GSM network and in my opinion has the worst coverage out of the three major carriers.
