T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G officially announced, coming next month

Today at GigaOm Mobilize 2011, T-Mobile has officially announced the HTC Amaze 4G, which has long been rumored as the HTC Ruby. The device, now sporting the new name with the 4G label is officially confirmed to support T-Mobile's HSPA+ network of up to 42Mbps connectivity. It's being touted as having the most advanced camera experience and the latest addition to T-Mobile's family of advanced camera smartphones.

The HTC Amaze 4G features an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash that's capable of 1080p full HD video capture. It boasts zero shutter lag, a backside illuminated sensor for improved light performance, and various advanced digital camera features, including SmartShot and PerfectPics.

SmartShot lets you capture five photos and creates the best shot using clear faces, smiles, and no blinking. PerfectPics lets you more easily organize your photos by scoring and filtering so that the best shots come up on top. It automatically prioritizes photos by criteria such as calendar events, faces, and picture quality. Other advanced features include SweepShot, ClearShot HDR, and BurstShot.

The device features a 4.3-inch qHD super LCD display and will be powered by a 1.5Ghz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor. It will come running HTC Sense on top of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and will also support NFC. Pre-orders for the HTC Amaze 4G will begin on October 10, with the device becoming available at T-Mobile retail stores and select dealers nationwide starting October 12. It's priced at $259.99 with a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
