All of the anticipation hasn’t been for nought. In fact, today at the T-Mobile G1 event, we learned that the device will be available from selected T-Mobile stores and dealers starting on October 27th for $179.

Two new data/messaging plans will also be available at $35 with unlimited data & messaging and $25 with unlimited web & some messaging.
Availability in Europe starts in early November and will then be available across Europe in 2009. And the best part? When the G1 launches, the whole platform will go open-source on the web. The T-Mobile G1 will feature 3G HSPA in 22 markets at launch.

t-mobile has priced this phone almost out of reach of the reugular consumer. Why should anyone be forced to purchase a two year agreement in order to get a fair price on the phone. The t-mobile website has it listed for $299..are you kidding me!!!!What happened to the listed $179?
Only a very very very small subset of the market will get $179 pricing — this past their 11th month in a 1 year, or 22nd month in a 2 year contract.
What horseshit.
