I've been shopping for a NAS the past 4 weeks, reading any info I can find. I've looked as Synology, QNAP, and Thecus, only interested in the two bay units (home user) I'm sure all three companies product a good product but I'm leaning towards Synology's DS712+ mainly due to the DSM, plus the ability to expand later if required.

Can't compare with others but I do have a 2-bay Syno at home and the Diskstation Manager makes it really easy for noobs like the one I was a year ago.

The quantity of features it offers makes it a great deal and I enjoy every bit of it. Sure one can see it as pricier than some competitors but not once I have regretted my purchase.
