Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with fingerprint ID scanner released for Pro 3, 4

This morning Microsoft announced that they'd be releasing a Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with Fingerprint ID. This piece of equipment will give fingerprint scanning abilities to both the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Pro 3, in turn giving Windows Hello touch capability to both devices. This keyboard will otherwise work the same as the standard Type Cover.

This release is an expansion of market availability, including Austria, Australia, Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom. That's a whopping 26 additional markets, all having availability straight through the Microsoft Store online.

Surface partner retailers and Authorized Device Resellers will also have access to the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with Fingerprint ID very soon. Pre-orders for the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with Fingerprint ID start this afternoon, while general availability will begin on the 15th of March, 2016.

This Surface Pro 4 Type Cover with Fingerprint ID works with what Microsoft describes as "the same premium features as the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover." This includes a "redesigned mechanical keyboard with optimal key spacing for fast and fluid typing" as well as a large glass trackpad in its bottom center.

The Fingerprint ID pad sits to the right of the touchpad, giving easy access to users right out the box.

Windows 10 will give users Windows Hello touch capability on both the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and the Surface Pro 4 upon connection. Tap, scan, done.
