Having noticed some serious slow-down on my PC lately (but then don’t we all), I did a quick check to see how XP was handling virtual memory only to find that my ever-growing music collection was taking up vast quantities of space.  So it’s excellent timing that Steve at the ever-interesting Carrypad UMPC Journal writes up how he uses Slim Media’s freeware back-end software, Slimserver, to stream music to his UMPC rather than store it locally.  Steve’s post is kinda ultra-portable skewed, but still of interest to people not using a UMPC.

Something I didn’t know was that there are plug-ins to use Last.fm and Pandora, among other things, with Slim’s media streamers.
